PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee (POC) chairman Monico Puentevella said on Friday that he was preparing to submit photos of the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City to the Asean Football Confederation (AFC).
The stadium is being proposed as venue for the February 9 match up between the national men’s soccer team, Azkals, and a team from Mongolia.
Puentevella said he himself will inspect the venue as the scheduled inspection by AFC on Saturday has been called off.
“If indeed that the lighting capacity is below the requirement, we will transfer the lights from Paglaum Sports Complex to Panaad,” the POC chair said.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro had already given the nod to utilize the lighting fixtures of Paglaum when necessary, he said.
Meanwhile, Puentevella confirmed that the planned training of the Azkals at the Panaad Stadium will not push through due to financial constraints. Instead, the team will have its training in Manila for the February 9 schedule.
“It’s too expensive to have the team housed and undergo early training here in Bacolod,” he said.

ReplyDeleteThis is the first time i heard this in a long time. No need to train in Bacolod, do it in Manila instead. Will see them all in Bacolod come game time.
is weiss already in the country, does anybody know?
ReplyDeleteIs it business/incompetence as usual? After all the uproar about losing the home game in the AFF Suzuki Cup and all the talk about getting the stadium in time, it's still not ready and the inspection was called off. Is this another bomb just waiting to blow up? Are we going to lose another home game? This had better get fixed right away.
ReplyDeleteGeez, I sure hope they get it sorted out. If they think the flood lights will be a problem why not transfer it now to be sure? By the way Weiss is already here, he was a the try outs and there will be another one this morning.
