By Henry C. Villalva

IT WILL be a case of daughters against their fathers Friday when the Negros Occidental Under19 ladies football team currently preparing for the forthcoming National Women’s Selections Tournament at Panaad on April 24-28, 2010, takes on multi-titled Bacolod United Football Club (BUFC) in a runeup match at the Panaad Sports and Recreational Park pitch in Barangay Mansilingan at 5:30 p.m.

U19 coach and former Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) deputy general secretary Warrn Concepcion Thursday said he believes his girls “will learn a lot from the championship-honed Bacolod United team, which is composed of practically the lineup that carried the colors of the province in the Philippine Football Federation’s National Men’s Open Championship mentored by former RP team coach Reynaldo Dofitas.

Among the mainstays of the BUFC lineup are former RP squad teammates midfielder Alfredo ‘Bambi’ Dioso, Jr. and forward Norman Fegidero, Jr., who carries the distinction of having scored the lone goal that eliminated Malaysia in the 1991 Manila Southeast Asian Games (SEAG).

Friday’s practice match will be open to the public for free.

The Negros Occidental U19 ladies team will pit skills against their counterparts from Manila, Davao, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Iloilo in the April 24-28 competition where the Neg. Occ. U14 girls will also compete against visiting squads from other football provinces in the country.

The five-day event at Panaad will be hosted by the Executive Village Football Club headed by businessman Junie Lizares in cooperation with the Philippine Football Federation.
