TRADITIONAL power Iloilo and powerhouse Manila took home the Under19 and Under14 women's football crowns, respectively, last Wednesday at the end of five-day hostilities in the 2010 National Women's Football Selections Tournament.
The event was held at the Panaad pitch of the Panaad Sports and Recreational Park in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
The Manila booters took the champion's trophy in the U14 division followed by host Negros Occidental/All Asia Countertrade, which settled for first runner-up honors while Davao took home the second runner-up trophy.
The host Negrenses had to endure a little frustration as host Negros Occidental Team "A" O Hotel settled for first runner-up honors behind eventual champion Iloilo, losing via goal difference, 1-0, after Negros Occidental "B" Danjugan Sanctuary bowed to eventual champion Iloilo, 10-0, while Negros Occidental Team "A"/O Hotel escaped a hard-fighting Davao side, 3-1, during the ultimate day of hostilities of this event hosted by the Executive Village Football Club headed by businessman Rafael Lizares and staged in cooperation with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) represented here by general secretary Cyril Dofitas, among others.
