WHEN the Philippine Azkals return to the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Indonesia it will be an entirely different situation than the last time they went there for an AFF Suzuki Cup game.
The Azkals played in the stadium in 2010 when they were mere minnows in the Asean football scene who were eager to prove themselves in the region. They got eliminated by Indonesia, 2-0, on aggregate.
The Filipino footballers now return to Jakarta as sharks, favored to go through to the semifinals – backed by a proven and tested coach in Sven Goran Erikkson and confidence high as they remain unscathed even after a clash against Asean powerhouse Thailand.
“I know it brings back some good memories. I think that game was very different from tomorrow. We have the chance to go through the semifinal and Indonesia doesn’t have,” said team skipper Phil Younghusband, one of the three remaining players from the 2010 team.
“It’s very difficult compare or take anything from that. But I remember the atmosphere here and a lot of us were new to that kind of pressure. Different game different time but hopefully a different result,” he added.
Longtime team benefactor Dan Palami remembers that day like it was yesterday, and he’s confident that they can get a different result this time when they return to Indonesia on Sunday in the final game in Group B of the 2018 Suzuki Cup.
A win, or a draw coupled with a Singapore loss to Thailand, will push the Philippines to the semis.
“It certainly feels that way, it’s still in the group stage pero parang it brings back a lot of memories since that time na naglaro kami doon. I’m just hoping that it would yield a different result,” said Palami.
“I think the team si ready to give us that. With the way we’re playing, based on the trend of how we play, we can achieve victory in Indonesia,” he added.
While it’s an entirely different situation now between the two teams, what won’t change is the hostile atmosphere that’s expected from the home crowd in a stadium that can seat up to 77,000 people
“We cannot take for granted yung support ng home nila, na sa pagkadami dami nila will always give them the extra boost,” Palami continued.
“We’re just hoping that the players be able to cope with it and play according to how we should play.”

Bedic starts and is useless so far.
ReplyDeleteUseless? Ikaw na kaya maglaro
DeleteHe was not effective in attack. Out attack picked up when he was replaced.

DeleteSeriously, wtf is it with Filipinos and this type of comment?! You criticize someone because they're clearly sub-par and then some retard tries to rebut by saying, "eh di ikaw na maglaro" or if it's the coach that's being criticized, "eh di ikaw nalang mag coach".
The level of stupidity in that is absolutely mind boggling!!! You're basically saying that you have no right to criticize unless you're prepared and capable of taking their place.
So if someone criticizes Duterte for his stupidity what are you gonna say, "eh di ikaw nalang maging presidente"?? Ganun ba yun?! Fucking stupid!!!
@ the great anonymous 26 november2018 10:26. Whats the connection of your stupid comment to mine? Thank you for the comment and YOU ARE THE GREATEST FUCKING STUPID!!
DeleteRegards sa grupo mong NCTLI (No Critical Thinking of Low IQ)
Dutertes stupidity?

DeleteThe fact you don't even know that I'm talking about your retarded comment just says it all!! Congratulations! You've just confirmed you're retarded!
@anonymous 26 November 2018 at 14:08 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Look who's talking.. good luck to you MORON/ alagad ni leni.

Is it true that Patiño is Injured or lying? or this is just because thailand is afraid of the azkals? If he is not really injured why we would lie about his situation? If he is really lying then he should not given a chance to play for the asian cup.
ReplyDeleteThailand club Buriram did not release him.
DeleteAnonymous25 November 2018 at 19:11 Man if you know nothing, then just stop speculating that Javier is faking his injury, your just gonna make things worst with that kind of shit.. We desperately need Javier Patiño's firepower. Not having our Target Man in the Suzuki Cup is worst enough(as we struggle to produce the goals)!! Then your suggesting like will be okay without him against Asia's elite countries!! He should not be given a chance to play for the Asian Cup?? For what??
DeleteFor argument's sake, & before doing any accusations. Here are some three points for you to consider relating to Javier's situation.
1.Javier Patiño was out due to a calf injury.
It is reported that he is out due to a calf injury!! He said he opted not to risk and gamble his place in the squad if he is not at optimal condition stating that he cannot help the squad playing with such a fitness concern. He wished the Nat'l team the best of luck in the upcoming Suzuki Cup and he promised to recover and return to the Azkals for the Asian Cup 2019 tournament(that's straight out of Javier's mouth). He suffered an ACL injury last year, that led to his release in 2018 which led to a return to the Thunder Castle(Buriram United). Javier only played a total of 3 matches & have 3 goals for the Azkals last year, then only 5 matches(missed 25 season games) & only scored 2 goals last season for Chinese Super League Club Henan Jianye because of that injury(a total of 8 app & 5 goals for club & country the entire calendar year of 2017). He actually loses his job in China because of that injury, and he is still finding his groove now in Thailand(besides the fact also that this time around at Buriram he will share or compete for the attacking role with two brazilian prolific strikers JACKSON ‘JAJA’ COELHO & DIOGO).
2.The AFF Suzuki Cup is outside that International window.
It is also initially expected that guy's at his level will only compete for The National team during the FIFA international break, & the AFF Suzuki Cup is outside that International window. Clubs are typically not obliged to release players for international duty outside of the windows, the FIFA international window shuts down last November 20. This kept Javier Patiño off the Suzuki Cup two years ago, when he was still with a Chinese club, & also this year's tournament as the Suzuki was & is held completely outside FIFA dates. This was the same reason why Neil just played one match in the tournament & then head back to Cardiff City, & also the reason why Chanatip, Teerasil, Theerathon & Kawin can't play for Thailand.
3.Obvious bias by Javier's club Buriram United.
Even if we say that Javier can risk his injury. The only bias here is why Patiño was not allowed to play for us while his Buriram teammates Pansa Hemviboom, Siwarak Tedsungnoen, Korrakot Wiriyaudomsiri, Saisalak Haiprakorn and Supachai Jaided was allowed to play the whole tournament for Thailand. One can only surmise that Patiño may have a different contract from the one all of these other players have inked. One that stipulates his contract may be voided if he gets injured playing outside of a FIFA date. (FIFA date injuries while on international duty are usually covered by insurance.) Maybe he is being held back by his club, as he may have an unguaranteed contract. If he gets injured again playing in a tournament outside that window, he could be out of job again.
Javier is worth €500,000 & was bought by HN Jianye from Buriram United for a €1,000,000 Transfer Fee, he is paid around P500,000 or more per month(in Thailand) baby, so if your him would you forced your calf & knee pains & take all that risk? You could risk of being forced to retire early if your unwise enough. I hope this is enough imformation for you bro. For you to have some idea about the Javier Patiño situation.
Sato is also out as he has been recalled by his club. Do we have someone capable to fill in his shoes?
DeleteI guess money is important than playing for the country and have the chance to win the aff cup. That make sense.
ReplyDeleteHindi kaba nakakaintindi? o sadyang mababaw lang analysis mo? May injury dao yung tao! In fact byente ka laro lang sya for the last two years, at natanggal sya ng team nya sa China dahil sa injury nya.. Over patriotic dumbass, your nonsense is purely baseless. Kathang isip mulang yan.. If i know these relates from your hatred of Fil-Foreigners.
DeletePorferio Kabisig isa kang talangka.
ReplyDeleteagree. obviously inggit, insecure yung tao hahaha
DeleteThen good. Hope he gets more opportunities. But I am not counting on seeing more goals from him. He is not in the lebel of Caligdong, the best local player I have seen. He does not have an eye for goal like Caligdong and will not be anywhere near his level based on what I have seen from him.
DeleteChieffy is a winger at si Joven ay more of Center forward role at talagang magkaiba ang style ng laro nila. Lahat yun natupad at ang pagiging coach also. At ngayon ay nasa Canada na sya. He left as an AFC 'B' License coach at lahat yun ibinigay sa kanya ng PFF. Hopefully Bedic will continue to play in the PFL as long as he can dahil medyo bata pa sya. Sa mga nagsasabi na he doesn't have an eye for goal is wrong. He scored in Kaya and in the National team as well at in the most crucial time pa. So, mali po yung sinasabi nyo Porferio Kabisig.
ReplyDeleteAh OO!
