ILRFA in U16; OZCFA, MARFA in U19 complete cast for 2026 PFF Boys’ National Championships

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) formally announces the final list of qualified teams advancing to the 2026 PFF National Under-19 and Under-16 Boys’ National Championship Group Stage, completing the ten-team rosters for both age divisions. T

The last remaining berth in the inaugural National U16 Championship was secured by the Iligan-Lanao Regional Football Association (ILRFA), which finished with four points in the tiebreaker—one point ahead of Quezon RFA. ILRFA joins Group B alongside Golden Davao RFA, Camiguin-Misamis Oriental RFA (CMORFA), Negros Occidental RFA, and Olongapo City-Zambales Football Association (OCZFA). Group A will feature the National Capital Region FA, Central Bicol RFA (CBRFA), Misamis Occidental-Ozamiz FA, Mount Apo RFA (MARFA), and Iloilo-Guimaras RFA.

ILRFA expressed pride in its qualification, stating that the team’s “hard work, dedication, and teamwork have paid off — ILRFA is going national!” Head coach Uriel Burda highlighted the efforts of their standout players, adding: “We are so happy and proud that the ILRFA football team qualified for the National Finals… Thank you, PFF.”

In the U19 Emerging Division, two best second-placers advance: MARFA of Cotabato and OCZFA. MARFA topped the tiebreakers with four points, while OCZFA edged Camarines Norte RFA by two goals in goal difference for the last finals slot. MARFA enters Group A with Laguna RFA, CBRFA, Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog RFA, and South Cotabato-Sarangani-General Santos RFA. OCZFA joins Cordillera RFA, Butuan-Agusan del Norte FA, and Davao South RFA.

OCZFA President Roberto Dy said their simultaneous U16 and U19 qualification “is a testament to how well and alive football is in our area,” adding that the achievement validates long years of grassroots work across Olongapo, Zambales, and Bataan.

PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez congratulated all qualified teams, emphasizing that these results reflect outstanding regional development. “Every RFA worked hard to reach this stage, and we value their commitment in developing our youth. These teams represent the strength of Philippine grassroots football,” he said.

He also reaffirmed the Federation’s nationwide talent-scouting mandate: “PFF is committed to scouring every corner of the country to find young, fresh talents. Well-organized national tournaments like this ensure that deserving players and teams have the platform to rise to the top.”

PFF looks forward to an exciting National Group Stage in Bacolod in April as the country’s best youth teams compete for national supremacy and continued footballing excellence.

Philippines Women's NT - Camp roster

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has released the training pool for the Philippine Women’s National Football Team (Filipinas) ahead of their February 2026 training camp in Manila, Balesin Island, and Perth. This camp is the team’s final major preparation before the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia.

The training will run for the entire month of February, with camps at the SM Mall of Asia Sky Pitch/Rizal Memorial Stadium (February 1 to 5 and February 17 to 22); Balesin Island in Quezon province (February 6 to 15); and Perth (February 24 to 28).

The Filipinas, gold medalist in the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, are grouped against 2023 World Cup semifinalist and host Australia, 2022 Asian Cup runner-up South Korea, and 2022 CAFA Women’s Championship runner-up Iran in Group A.

The Filipinas’ schedule is as follows (in Philippine time):

  • March 1: Philippines v Australia, Perth Stadium, 5 PM
  • March 5: Philippines v South Korea, Gold Coast Stadium, 11 AM
  • March 8: Philippines v Iran, Gold Coast Stadium, 5 PM

PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez reaffirmed the Federation’s strong support for the Filipinas’ campaign.

“This camp is an essential part of ensuring that the Filipinas enter the Asian Cup with the best possible preparation,” Gutierrez said during a press conference with the Philippine Sports Commission last January 29.

“We hit two birds with one stone. We get to reward the girls for some R&R (rest and recreation) because of their [SEA Games] performance and be totally secluded in [Balesin] island to prepare for AFC. So, [Alphaland] sponsored the plane fair and lodging,” Gutierrez added, referring to the Balesin Island developer Alphaland, one of the Filipinas’ newest sponsors.

Filipinas head coach Mark Torcaso emphasized that the objective of the camp is to elevate the game of the Filipinas even further, as they will face tougher opponents than those they encountered in the SEA Games.

“The players understand that we’re obviously going to a competition that is much tougher than the SEA Games. So now it’s about lifting our intensity, our quality, our fitness levels, our speed to be of another level higher than that and obviously to achieve the opportunity to go to another World Cup,” said the Australian gaffer, who will coach in his first Asian Cup.

The road to the National Finals begins tomorrow, January 17, 2026, as San Carlos City officially opens the PFF U16 Regional Championship (Visayas Qualifiers). Five of the region’s best youth teams are set to battle at the SJRI Football Ground, but the pressure is at an all-time high: only the top two finishers will earn a coveted ticket to the National Finals.

Representing the home province is the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (NORFA), composed of the elite youth talent from San Carlos City Negros Football Club (SCCNFC), STIWNU, UNO-R, ADA-Bacolod, & ADA-Pontevedra. The local boys will have the weight on their shoulders as they look to utilize home-field advantage to secure one of those two qualifying slots.
