ASC2018: ERIKSSON ‘EXCITED’ FOR SINGAPORE CLASH

BACOLOD CITY (12 Nov 2018) – Sven Goran Eriksson, the newly appointed head coach of the Philippines, is ‘excited’ at the prospect of playing against Singapore in his first match in charge.
The well-travelled Swede will be at the helm when the Philippines opened their AFF Suzuki Cup campaign against Singapore at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
“I was impressed by Singapore and how they played against Indonesia. This is a new experience for me,” said Eriksson.
“I am excited and looking forwards to our first match against Singapore.”
Eriksson, who took England to the FIFA World Cup in 2002 and 2006, has the utmost respect for Singapore head coach Fandi Ahmad after watching the Lions beat Indonesia.
The Swede was at the National Stadium to watch the Singapore-Indonesia clash.
“I am not worried (after watching Singapore beat Indonesia). They deserved to win,” added Eriksson. “They have good two good strikers and they play direct good football.
“We have to play well to beat them.”
This is Eriksson’s first sojourn to the region where he will also handle the team to next year’s AFC Asian Cup Finals.

  1. the azkals are foreign born and bred. they do not represent Philippine football status. if we send our top 20 homegrown Filipino football players in the Suzuki cup, we won't be as successful, but at least we will be respected. right now, behind our backs, SEA nations think of us as a big joke they have to deal with unfortunately. i used to be a believer in the Azkals. but if you do this for 10 years and just keep on a policy of foreign recruitment, as promoters all you really want apparently is the money. the Azkals are a shame. don't worry, Laos and East Timor. we really are just near your level :)

    1. I have enough of ds ssht.. i've been quiet for sometime but thats it this is too much...We hav Sngpornz, malaz, indons taes n vitcongs talking dirty shht againts our team, they included our women who put their ass on the line out there to feed us & they treat them like Pornstar dogs breading azkals, throw them in the building if they dont do what they like or accused them wrongly of brking allas ass.. they say we there men(us) are lossers and slow, our azkals achieved nothing in the beautiful game and that our players are euro bbc son of a bitch... Wow what have we have here, a pure local bread here talking shit like his half aeta half Tabon caveman joining our enemies prey againts our MNT becoz yah yah our pure locals like him dont hav a spot n our MNT, there cucks arent big enough than the euros... You know what,,, if your not good enough to make it in the team, dont get mad... why don't u til your own kid, the future 'Pinoy Messi' to come out in he's cave because the PFF spend millions doing this youth programs looking for there ass to came out.. Our U23 needs a kid like him for our future if PYH & the half-breads gets old and become impotent... We have overuse PYH already 100 caps, 50+ goals, still more than 10 years later and still no good enough replacement for him from our current pure locals and our pure youths??? Now we ask them to come out please & stop playing computer games or watching basketball and start kicking balls so we can beat Timor-Leste, Laos & Brunei Darussalam, or maybe Bangladesh & Mongolia on our own & be rank atleast 190 in the world and be respected by our trash mouth neighbors.. Top 20 my ass... so who's on your list baby??? Im sure you have a name Aguinaldo right there as the only central defender lol??? because all our youth plays attack and dont love to defend our ground, all wanna be 'Messi' like all wanna Curry or Kyrie, they left nobody behind the back lol... thats why we get blown away even at SEA level... im sure they can win a match like in the Peace Cup, the Gold Cup and qualify in the Suzuki Cup lol.. they cant even win in the SEA Games, and now you till me that we show our true status, stop representing foreign devils, so we can be respected??? You get too carried away about what they think and what they say shittt things about us... I don't give a shitt if they keep laughing, as long as they keep on lossing and eat there own shtt football pride... Hey brother #WearYourPride we are asong kalye, accept that fact, that we are halfbread son ofa bitch*(Aeta-Igorot-Lumad-Indio-Malay-Tsinoy-Japs-Euro-Americana mix up together as one), nobody is pure Aryan here... All those who conquered us in the past rape all our beautiful women, The priest, the Yankees, the Japs even if granny wont admit it thats what happen baby.. And yeh only the beautiful one's lol...

    2. Anonymous14 November 2018 at 04:50 is that all you have to say??? Any suggestion or helpful solution you may wanna share??? Or your just being a pain in ass.... Im sure that all the members of the PFF already knows what you said and that they are trying to set up the YFL and other grassroots program for our own Youth Azkals... But the thing is let me ask you??? How do you convince a filipino child to kick a ball, instead of bouncing balls??? Thats the main issue here because we are leaving in a basketball world... If you convince one, there are around a 120 million more boys and girls, and you have to let the old ones watch football also in the PFLTV or PFL central and let them fill our 10,000 capacity stadiums... How do you suggest to the PFF??? Whats needed to be done???They have thesame kind of a problem a missionary has when he starts walking that walk & he encounters a catholic, how do you convince one to make him/her accept your doctrine??? Be helpful man, your not a dog are you??? Barking up a tree wont help....

    3. Im just explaining what France is made kasi kino compare ng isang Anonymous13 November 2018 at 12:04 na "Welcome to the world outside the cave. tell that to WC champ France & any other country in the world." Puro present lng kasi inintindi nyo.

Do i have to be hambog?? What should i gain from being one??? Im an Anonymous user, im nameless... & Its not important who am i, its the Football Perspectives that we share here... But i dont do that kind of time wasting, bcoz i valued this kind of forum, where small people talk & everyone are free to share there opinion... Now since you speculated that my brains is totally isolated in Manila are, so let me talk about my nameless self just a little bit, just for good measure... I live in M.Manila since my college years, me, my family and my own family are here.. But im a well travelled person, i was born in Cebu, & grow up in my ancestral N.Mindanao, my family is big and old Spanish era family in our area, but im not Lumad or Maranao, im part Ilocano-Espanyol-Bisaya-Boholano...My surname itself has Sephardic(Spanish) Jewish origin, in which during the Spanish Inquisition my ancestors our history books tills have been forcely converted to Christianity, & remain to be one ever since... Ive been around from Davao to CDO, Cebu, Leyte-Samar, Bicol all the way to N.Luzon.. So i know how Big Basketball is so i dont know what you are talking about that Basketball is just a Manila thing. Ive played football at HS level, as well as Basketball and i know how hard it is for Footballers to find players to play with or to find a field to play football.. The place i grow up with is no similar to Barotac or Negros, but some places like the Davao region, Iligan, Zamboanga City, CDO and Bukidnon, and M'lang in S.Cotabato have good football programs, and they are producing pro players. But Basketball is everywhere, and the Football fields are empty for the most part. Even in a place they call the epicenter of football (the Bacolod area) its also a Basketball Hotbed, and i dont have to till everybody here bcoz everyone knows except you, that most of our PBA guys are from Pampanga, Cebu, Davao Area, Negros, CDO, Pangasinan & other areas besides the bulk of the Fil-Ams from California. Stop being speculative, its ignorance of facts on your part right there, but i guess you must be a lady so its okey. To answer your Q(?), Bacolod can fill 5,000 seats unlikey M.Manila, but not 15,000 seats. Sad to say but most of the Negrenses also are on to Basketball as well(they also produce pros like James Yap, Jeff Chan, Hugnatan, Baclao, LA Revilla etc). Anyway the PFF and the foreign born players does not pay me a single penny to be there attorney, your just not practical enough to accept the fact that we have no other choice bcoz of the status quo of Football in the Philippines, we have to rely on these alternative for now. But it should not be like these forever like you said, so somebody have to step up on there game. But the merit of being an Azkals(Nat'l player) must lay, not on purely based of race and ethnicity but must be of ones excellence, quality, caliber etc. just in the case of Bedic, Deyto and Aguinaldo when coach Sven chose them. Its purely base on the quality of the player, so the others should do better next time... They always have the PFL(if it will last longer), the PFL Cup, AFC Cup and other high level competitions as there area to showcase there quility as a footballer. The Azkals era actually created a great balance to Philippine Football, in the sense that it elevated our level of play here from pros to amateurs. The Army years has moderate achievements, but we most not go back to those years and remain a small football country. Besides the Azkals, Europe and the Americas, Asian Football have Globalized also and some have started naturalizing footballers even ASEAN countries...so we must think Globally also in order to be Globally Competitive.

    5. yes I know, they are the product of successful French football program, so the main problem here is the PFF, not the color, origin, race as some people are pointing out.

  6. hi, friendly friends. i was the original commenter. missed me?

so here's the thing. i say something not too popular and suddenly i unleash the worst racist, bigoted, macho, hateful language inside of you. it's the internet, so no surprise. but still sad.

my only point is this: we should STOP celebrating the Azkals as the "national" football team because they really do not reflect our footballing status. and if you're asking me for solutions, here's mine: SLOWLY, but SURELY, populate the national team with players who were born and bred (i.e. learned their football) here. i don't care if they have Younghusband or Zhen or Yamashita, just as long as they learned their football in the Philippines.

Since Hanoi, we have developed the likes of Gayoso, Bedic, Giganto, etc. we have people born here who know how to play. why do we insist on excluding locals from the national team? if the answer is because they are not ready, is there at least a timeline for when that can happen? every year Palami just keeps adding a young cute face from Europe.

until the Azkals is made up of exactly 50% homegrown Filipinos, I, and the rest of Southeast Asia, really, will not think highly of it, to say the least. we are playing in Panaad in Bacolod, which is a city with half a million souls. Football country. seriously we can't even insert one lousy Bacolodeer to be in the starting XI? hindi ba tayo nahihiya sa mga taga Bacolod niyan?

PANDARAYA. Tayo ay mga Pilipinong Mandaraya :)

    ktxbye. labyu.

    2. So im the hateful & a bigot son ova bitch right??? i have unreasonable beliefs in your opinion??? when you are the unreasonable and hateful one who keeps insisting that the Azkals do not represent our Philippine football status, and that the Azkals are a shame and a Big Joke for you... You keep on saying that we should STOP celebrating the Azkals as the "national" football team??? Wow what a backward kind of brain you have there, well these is the internet, so no surprise here. Your such a pussy, did i insist on excluding locals from the national team?? Your making sth up, making excuses to deceive us with your beliefs.. Go then and cheer for the Thais and Indons, & hope that the cheating Azkals loss including in the AFC Asian Cup. Why take the trouble to come here??? Did you enjoy this kind of stuff you are doing??

Oh you must be so affected, that Jarvey did not make the cut. Sorry but you don't have to hate your own because of that. The good thing is that, i have calculated that guys or girls that thinks like you do are about o.ooooo1% of about 120,000,000 filipino's around the world.. So its okey we can't do anything about you and what you believe in, you can keep on coming with things like what you said for the next ten years, but it wont change anything, cuz its not helpful & very unrealistic, you need more effort to make us believe in your way of thinking good luck... I have nothing more to say... You are what you are so go your way..

Anyway one more thing. Ceres-Negros is 0% Bacolodnon, because Manong Ed is from Bago City. Also it has 20 fil-foreign players out of around 27 total players. Pero hindi nila kinahihiya yung Ceres-Negros nila... Infact they've been very supportive and that the Club has the biggest fanbase in the entire PFL. The thing about Negros and Iloilo is they know there football, so they don't think like you. They are the last one to hate the Azkals if ever you breed a lot & increase in numbers...

  8. Simple lng tanong ko. Meron ba taga Negros Starting 11? O local man lng nasa starting 11? Hindi kaya ng Ceres mag butang maski 2- 3 players lng na homegrown kahit taga ibang probinsya pa yan, Always relying on Foreign born players in all its line up. Global Cebu, Davao Aguilas, Kaya Iloilo, JP Voltes, Stallion Laguna all have homegrowns in theil line up but Ceres gad nil- Zero.
