The United Football League enjoyed a successful launch of its mall tour last Sunday, June 15, at Sta. Lucia Mall. The event marked the start of the UFL’s efforts to bring the excitement of football closer to the sport’s growing fan base in Metro Manila. Just a month away from the start of the Football Alliance Cup, which will pit the UFL’s top six 1st Division clubs against each other, the Philippines’ premier football competition will continue to hold small clinics, small-sided exhibition matches, and various footballing activities in two other malls. The next stop is SM Fairview on June 22.
“The Football Alliance Cup is an important season ender short tournament for the UFL, as outside of this being the last piece of silverware for the season, it pits the top six 1st Division clubs in a knockout competition,” said UFL President Randy Roxas. “The Football Alliance Cup will likewise benefit our partner, TV 5′s, charity endeavors through the Alagang Kapatid Foundation.”
The SM Fairview leg will be followed by the final leg in Robinson’s Manila on July 5. Each mall visit features small-sided games between top players from UFL heavyweights Global, Kaya, Loyola Meralco Sparks, Stallion Giligan’s, Green Archers United Globe, and Pachanga PLDT Home Fibr. UFL Coaches will also be present throughout the day to help children learn the basics of the fastest growing sport in the country. The first stop proved a huge success, with the next two stops expected to even be bigger fun-filled footballing occasions.
The Football Alliance Cup begins on July 12 and runs until July 26.
