Global opens Singapore bid Wednesday night

By Cedelf P. Tupas

HOPING to make up for a disappointing AFC Cup stint, United Football League champion Global seeks international glory this time in the Singapore Cup starting Wednesday night against Hougang United at Hougang Stadium.
As the only UFL side in the 16-team tournament, Global is hard-pressed to improve on last year’s performance when it bowed out in the first round.
Although still in contention in the UFL Cup and the league competition, Global fell short in the AFC Cup, failing to make it past the group stage.
But with quality players beefing up the side this time, hopes are high of Global duplicating the club’s best finish in 2013 when it reached the semifinals of the prestigious competition which is now on its 18th year.
“We’re hopeful that, with a stronger squad, we can make an impact in the tournament,” said Global owner Dan Palami. “There’s pressure to do well considering we are the only Philippine club in the competition.”
National team standouts Amani Aguinaldo, Daisuke Sato, Mark Hartmann and Misagh Bahadoran will be at the forefront for Global, who will be boosted by new signings Norio Suzuki, a J-League veteran, and former Loyola Meralco midfielder Matt Hartmann.
Hougang finished seventh in the S-League last season.

    1. sorry po no local free or catv ang gustong sumugal at mag invest sa tv coverage.

asa pa sa sports5 or abs sports and action...napaka focus kasi sila sa tv coverage ng PBA semis, NBA western and eastern finals and PSL volleyball.

both PBA and NBA mas kailangan nila ng local and global exposure from media....dahil hindi sila ang busiest sport sa mundo like football and tennis.

unlike football and tennis mas maraming competitions like UEFA and AFC sanction competitions, numerous Tennis Open and yung bagong IPTL.

Fiba survives bcoz of NBA huge market..hindi tulad sa football na bankable leagues like EPL,Bundesliga,Serie A,La liga, A-league, J-league,MLS,Danish Super Liga,Russian Premier league and Ligue A.

    4. If our legislators will abolish the 1987 constitution and remove the 60-40 restrictions for FDI..

from presidential to parliamentary federal system di impossible na dumami ang sports hotbed sa iba't ibang region sa Pilipinas.

Ang problema nagpapadikta sa mainstream media, oligarchs and politicians from Imperial Manila ang halos lahat ng region sa Pilipinas. .

Kung anu sikat sa Manila dapat boung Pilipinas...wala bang products and cebu baguio davao zamboangoa at boung Pilipinas para I challenge ang NCR.

Mula entertainment, sports, media, movie and other commodities kailanga I promote at mangaling mula.
