ERNIE Nierras has yet to scout PSG FC in action in the ongoing United Football League, but the Stallion-Sta. Lucia FC manager can already see one thing going for his squad in their Division 1 matchup on Thursday at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill, Taguig.
The Stallions gun for a share of the UFL lead in their 5:15 meeting with PSG with Nierras confident of victory, more so if their opponents, particularly flashy goalkeeper Reza Ataei, continue what he alleged was 'diving' tendencies.
“We haven’t seen Pasargad, but I’ve seen the Youtube video of how the goalkeeper plays the dramatics,” he said. “That’s not gonna help them at all.”
Ataei has been outstanding for PSG, which made it to the finals of the Philippine Football Federation-Smart Club Championship last month, but the Iranian booter has often been accused of diving.
Ataei’s antics were first seen in the national club tournament and continued in their first game in the UFL last week - a 2-1 loss to Global - where he was eventually shown the yellow card after being caught by a referee.
“I don’t think there’s a place for that in football,” said Nierras, who led Stallion to the UFL Cup title last December.
The Stallions hope to draw another solid effort from Rufo Sanchez, and UFL returnees Bo Bae Park and Prince Boley, the goal scorers in their 3-1 victory over Green Archers United last week.
Defending champion Global and Nomads likewise aim for a piece of the lead when they collide at 7:30 p.m.
