UFL postpones crucial matches due to bad pitch

The final pairings for the knockout stages of the United Football Cup still have to wait a while after the league postponed its matches Sunday due to unplayable pitch conditions.
The crucial Group C tiffs between the Loyola Meralco Sparks and Mendiola FC as well as Pachanga and Laos FC at the University of Makati were instead moved to Monday in the same venue.
The pitch might have been affected by isolated rain showers brought by warm weather that fell over Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon Sunday afternoon.
The two matches will determine the matchups for the Cup quarterfinals, which will begin on Tuesday. Currently, Loyola and Pachanga are tied in Group C with six points apiece behind Nomads FC, which has nine points in four matches but lags the two teams in goal differential.
Quarterfinal matches between reigning League champion Global and League runner-up Kaya and Penson Stallion Giligan’s versus General Trias International FC, meanwhile, have already been set. Philippine Army FC and Green Archers United Globe are still waiting for their foes in the knockout stages.
In the other matches, Team Socceroo edged Philippine Navy FC, 1-0, at the Army Support Command football field, while Philippine Air Force FC and Sta. Lucia FC figured in a scoreless draw at the Nomads Sports Club.
