The Rizal Memorial Football Stadium will get the nod of the organizers of the 2012 ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup to become the home venue of the Philippine national men’s football team once improvement on the venue’s pitch is done.
Philippine Football Federation communications head Ebong Joson said that the AFF made the recommendation after its inspection of the stadium last November 8.
“Approval is pending improvement of the pitch,” Joson told InterAKTV. “There are uneven sections that need to be addressed.”
Two years ago, the Azkals were forced to play the home leg of their Suzuki Cup semifinal series in Indonesia after organizers failed to find a suitable venue in the country to host the match. Indonesia won the series on aggregate, 2-0, to end the Azkals’ surprising run in the tournament.
Joson said that the PFF together with the Philippine Sports Commission, which owns and manages the stadium, are now speeding up the work to make it the home of the Azkals if they advance to the semifinals of the Suzuki Cup.
“PSC have, of course, agreed to fast track the work so that we can host the potential home games,” Joson said.
Even the United Football League has cooperated with the move as it decided to postpone its Cup final matches scheduled on Monday to give the PFF and PSC more time to work on the field.
Apart from the pitch, the stadium’s lighting facilities have also been upgraded in time for the inspection of the AFF.
The Azkals will first play in Bangkok, Thailand in the group stages of the Suzuki Cup from November 24 to December 1. The top two teams from two groups will advance to the home-and-away semifinal series, which is slated on December 8 to 13. The finals are scheduled on December 19 to 22.
From previous reports, figures of P2 million were quoted for the renovations. It would be hilarious if it went ahead and the MNT doesn't make it to the knockout round. lol.
ReplyDeleteAt least, the RMS will be renovated and we will benefit future users. Do not have a short sighted view
Deletehilarious so be it. what do you suggest? not to renovate because we might not advance anyway? what a loser.
DeleteNever said not to renovate it you fucktards!! Just said it would be hilarious!! You people need to get a sense of humor! It's like you guys are being offended even though you're not!! Bunch of wankers really!!
Deletewhy would it be hilarious if they don't make it? why would you feel that way if our national team fails to reach the finals. you should feel sad unless you really want them to fail. do you have an axe to grind against the team? are you jealous that you are not part of team management. why do you hate the azkals so much?
Deletethat hater is the same guy who keeps causing trouble around the comment threads. wouldnt be shocked if he was one of those trouble makers the aff suzuki cup page. really sounds like one
Deleteano masama doon ha 'hilaryo' maganda nga na renovate!!!!! mag krikritiko ka un mabigatbigat hindi palpak
DeleteInteresujące. Pozdrawiam http://punkt30.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteWe will reach the finals!
ReplyDeleteShort sighted people!! What do you expect of crabs guys?
small time or big time, ang achievement nila ay para sa lahat ng Pilipino kaya naappreciate namin yun. in english, ALL FOR THE GLORY OF THE PHILIPPINES. di katulad sa yo, nagmamarunong. walang kwenta.
DeleteThailand 0 - 3 Philippines
ReplyDeleteVietnam 1 - 5 Philippines
Myanmar 0 - 7 Philippines
Para mas marami ang makakita nang laro at magkakaroon ng maraming chearers, i would suggest that the home game be played in Cebu or Bacolod. Also, it would entail less renovation expenses because it has better pitch than RMS with bigger stadium capacity and parking space for vehicles.
ReplyDeleteAgree, kahit dito kami sa pampanga, mas maganda sa Cebu or Bacolod, dyan nalang dn sana gawin ang home turf ng azkals. :)
ReplyDeleteI like Cebu. Good crowd. Good supporters. I'm sorry. Very good crowd. Very good supporter. I'm really sorry Cebu fans are the BEST!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, they should reward it to Cebu incase we make the semis. We went to Cebu last weekend just to watch the game and we are one of those out of towners who helped make Cebu LOUD!!!!. Cebu is also a good host.
ReplyDeletePero sana din magkaroon nang chance ang ibang provinces like in Ilocos, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Batangas, Bikol, Samar, Leyte, Negros at iba pa. Kasi these provinces will strive to follow what was done already by other provinces like in this case Cebu or Manila.
ReplyDeleteThis by itself an achievement kung magkakatotoo.
But I guess why not...it happened in Cebu so it is bound to happen in other provinces.
I was the one above who suggested that why not in Cebu and Bacolod...and i'm with you if they will also try other provinces. I saw a picture of a pitch in Iligan, Dipolog and Dumaguete, well, a little improvement would make them qualify. So, i guess, PFF should try to check these. If they want to make the sports very popular in the Philippines, then they should consider all avenues. More popular, more talents to improve and get discovered. Viva Pilipinas!!!
ReplyDeleteSana magkaroon tayo ng malaking at modern stadium like the other countries i hope the government,POC,PFF and private sector magtulungan kahit mga 40,000 to 50,000 seating capacity :)
