THE Hooligans Football Club of Davao City will have its hands full when the Philippine Football Federation (PFF)-Smart National Club Championship Mindanao Finals kicks off Friday at the Tionko field.
Davao Football Association (DFA) general secretary Erwin Protacio, who was guest at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn on Tuesday, said the Southern Mindanao champion Dabawenyos will be playing against Advocates FC of Northern Mindanao, M'lang FC of Central Mindanao and Ramgarjal FC of Western Mindanao in the three-day competition.
"I think Dipolog City's Ramgarjal FC will be the stiffest rival of the Hooligans. But the city team, mostly bannered by UM (University of Mindanao) players, stand a very good chance to win the Mindanao title," Protacio said.
Coached by David Dwight Peñano and Noel Presto, the Hooligans FC will rely on the services of Angelo John Adana, Patrock Asoque, Mark Anthony Bugay, Marlon Dimapanag, Allan Rey Fernandez, Kuizumi Yoshihoru, Kristian Hager, Roeder Ignacio, Francisco Iligan Jr., Clemens Lademora, Jason Mortillero, Ruelfred Napuran, Renell Pino, Junard Pinonggan, Imardino Polo, Ronald Manalo, Joven Benitez, and Arman Valencia.
He said the top two Mindanao teams will advance to the quarter-finals along with two teams from the Visayas and Luzon. They will join the top 10 teams from the ongoing United Football League of the National Capital Region.
DFA, which was represented by Columbia FC, won the Mindanao championship last year.
