Stallion , Green Archers book UFL Cup semifinal date on penalty shootout victories

Penson Stallion Giligan’s escaped guest squad General Trias International FC on penalties to move on to the United Football Cup semifinals in a thrilling Thursday night encounter at the University of Makati.
Stallion booked a final four date with Green Archers Globe, which defeated Pachanga FC also on penalties. 4-3.
Korean import Nam Yeul Woo scored the winning shot to give Stallion a 5-4 win on penalties in a match that featured 11 yellow cards on the same number of players on the pitch.
Both teams engaged in a tight battle throughout the match, with Stallion dominating the attack which was derailed many times by General Trias defense.
General Trias was forced to play with 10 men after one of its players got injured midway through the second half. But it still held its ground against Stallion and its star Spanish striker Rufo Sanchez, who struggled all night.
Stallion had chances to score late in regulation, but goalkeeper Seo Seung Seok saved two consecutive shots to keep the game at nil-nil and bring the game to extra time.
General Trias kept its clamps on defense in the added period, with Seo deflecting two more attempts from Stallion in the first extra period and Sanchez missing a potential game-winner late in the second to keep the match scoreless, necessitating on a penalty shootout.
Stallion and General Trias made their first four penalty shots. But Hoan Cheol Do of General Trias misfired in the fifth kick, allowing Sanchez of Stallion the chance to nail the game-winning goal.
But goalkeeper Seo made another great save on Sanchez’s shot to keep General Trias’ hopes alive. However, the all-Korean squad muffed their next shot to give another opportunity for Stallion to take the victory.
Nam then blasted a goal in the next penalty kick to seal the triumph for Stallion.
In the other bracket, Green Archers United capped off the pulsating night at the Nomads Sports Club with its own victory on penalties.
Ayi Nii Aryee sank the last penalty to lift the Green Archers to a 4-3 victory in penalties over Pachanga.
The match was tied at 1-1 at the break courtesy of goals by Jesus Melliza of Green Archers and Ariel Zerrudo of Pachanga in the first half.
Both teams then failed to break the deadlock in the second half and extra time, bringing the match to a penalty shootout.
Green Archers finally caught a great chance to win the game as Pachanga missed its first two shots on the shootout. Aryee then hit the last kick to give the Green Archers the victory.
