Advocates FC quits, Romgarjal triumphs

HIGHLY-touted Romgarjal Football Club (FC) of Zamboanga del Norte 
defeated Advocates FC of Iligan City via default at the start of the 
Philippine Football Federation (PFF)-Smart National Club Championship Mindanao Finals at the Tionko field on Friday.
Davao Football Association (DFA) general secretary Erwin Protacio, 
in text messages to Sun.Star Davao, said Advocates FC, 
which was supposed to represent 
Lanao del Norte Football Association-Northern Mindanao, backed out at the last minute.
Thus, the Mindanao finals is left with three squads
 including M'lang FC of North Cotabato-Central Mindanao and
Southern Mindanao champion Hooligans FC of 
Davao Football Association that were still playing against each other as of press time.
Today's games pit Romgarjal against M'lang at 1 p.m. 
and Hooligans against Advocates at 3 p.m. Romgarjal 
will take on the Hooligans in the 1 p.m. curtain raiser tomorrow
 followed by the match between Advocates and M'lang.
The top two teams after the single round-robin format 
eliminations will represent Mindanao to the quarter-finals along 
with two teams from the Visayas and Luzon and the 
top 10 teams of the ongoing United Football League (UFL).
The Hooligans, mentored by David Dwight Peñano and Noel Presto, 
will try to defend Davao's Mindanao title with Angelo John Adana, 
Patrock Asoque, Mark Anthony Bugay, Marlon Dimapanag, 
Allan Rey Fernandez, Kuizumi Yoshihoru, Kristian Hager, 
Roeder Ignacio, Francisco Iligan Jr., Clemens Lademora, Jason Mortillero,
 Ruelfred Napuran, Renell Pino, Junard Pinonggan, Imardino Polo, 
Ronald Manalo, Joven Benitez, and Arman Valencia in the cast.
