GLOBAL Cebu FC got the job done this time, coming away with all three points in the Philippines Football League (PFL) following a 3-1 win over the 10-men Kaya FC Makati on Wednesday at the Rizal Stadium.
Powered by a Sekou Sylla brace, Global improved to seven points after three games to stay within striking distance of leader FC Meralco Manila which sits atop the table with nine points.
"Both teams played well but we took advantage of the first two goals in the second half," said Global head coach Marjo Allado.
After dropping points in Binan just a few days ago, the Cebu side looked much sharper and it became more evident when Dennis Villanueva scored with a header just five minutes into the match.
Sylla then got his first goal in the 18th minute after converting another header to double Global's lead.
Kaya showed some life in the second half with quick counters and impressive movement, and they were rewarded 10 minutes after the interval when Eric Giganto's screamer touched Wesley dos Santos' arms inside the box inadvertently, resulting in a penalty for Kaya.
Robert Lopez Mendy calmly took the penalty to pull one back for the Makati side and pump some life into its attack.
Fortunately for Global, none of Kaya's chances were ever converted, with Jalsor Soriano's red card at the 79th minute dampening Kaya's hopes for a comeback.
Sylla then wrapped things up for Global with a splendid goal off a counter in the 90th minute.
"Everything changed when Kaya had the penalty, they had many chances, so we were lucky in the second half actually," Allado added.
The loss was Kaya's first in the tournament after getting four points in its first two matches.

Cebu side daw pero sa Rizal stadium nilaro. Malaking chance nanalo ni Palami dahil doon palagi nagtraining ang Global. Alam ba ng AfC Ito?
