Rejuvenated Kaya FC steps up UFL title bid in match against Army

  • By Karlo Sacamos
A REJUVENATED Kaya FC tries to keep in step with the leaders of the United Football League as it takes on Philippine Army at the resumption of the UFL on Tuesday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
A victory for Kaya in the 5:15 p.m. affair will gain for the title dark horse at least a share of second spot with Loyola Meralco, which has 36 points. Global FC is on top with 38 points.
“The boys are relaxed,” Kaya coach David Perkovic said. “The (Holy Week) break was good for the players who need much earned rest and get over juggling injuries.”
The Australian mentor expects a decent showing from his Azkals-loaded squad as they seek to extend a four-game winning streak despite the league informing teams of a schedule change only a couple days ago.
“It’s not ideal preparation … however we should have enough quality to put in a good performance,” said Perkovic, whose wards face a Korean-powered military squad that is running seventh in the nine-team standings.
Fourth-running Stallion FC tries to add to the misery of cellar-dwelling Pasargad as both clubs face off at 7:30 p.m.
