ELEVEN Cebuano booters were shortlisted in the Visayas selection of the Philipppine national Under-19 men’s football team.
These players will be joining the national selection in San Carlos City from Aug. 4 to 12.

The players who made it are Christian Kenn Agot, Junjay Anthony Arizabal, Valentino Calvo Joseph Lorenzo Mercado and Raphael Clifford De Guzman from Don Bosco Technological Center; Michael Anthony Ruete and Rogelio Castillon from Abellana National School; and Nicholas Villacin and Jose Rafael Lipardo from Paref Springdale.
Completing the list are Italy-based Carmelo Vicente Genco and Sacred Heart Ateneo de Cebu’s Joshua Miguel Kwan.
Majority of these players, who make up almost half of the Visayas selection, played in the Palarong Pambansa secondary football tournament last summer.
“Most of them were Palaro pick-ups but there are some players from outside Cebu, who were recommended. Some coaches had hold tryouts to fill up the rest of 25 players,” said ANS head coach Francis Ramirez.
Agot, Arizabal and Castillon Jr. are currently college freshmen at the the University of San Carlos, while De Guzman is suiting up for the University of San Jose Recoletos. Calvo is in Ateneo de Manila University.
PFF selected the top 25 players from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to take part in the closed training camp.
From there, a final pool of 50 players will be chosen to undergo a series of trainings and camps prior to the Asian Football Confederation U19 Championship qualifiers set next year.
Completing the Visayas list are seven players from Iloilo, two from Negros Occidental and five from Negros Oriental.

    1. look at the standing of suzuki pff u23. majority of players are still u19 either from NOFA or cebu side. yet your cebu team sucks!

  2. This selection is PRO-CEBU. this is a big shit again. we have very good players from the under-16 squad last year. where are they? am sure there will be another big debacle as what happened to the U22.

  3. favoritism! coaching staff are from cebu. u19 of cebu or any province can't beat their counter parts from NOFA, much like the u23. last time i checked cebu still lags behind negros and iloilo in visayas football peking order.

    1. how many items did region 6 win in the elementary or high divs in the palaro in the last 5 years? you can have the U-21 up but i tell you, in the younger age groups, iloilo and nofa are losing their grip.

  4. We have good players from bacolod, san carlos and dumaguete yet a few of them are on the above list. is glenn ramos again in the coaching or selection staff? he should have resigned long ago. mahiya ka naman. kapal mukha mo.

  5. Sorry but this is 95 age group, Cebu represented Central Visayas in the last Palarong Pambansa. Cebu made the finals, how did your team do? Did they make the semis, if I remember it right, they didn't, so pla check your facts before you comment,

  6. Cebu also won the elemnetary title if the last palarong pambansa. FYI and the only reason after High school we don't do well is because our best players are being offered good scholarships in Manila Universities!

    1. Oh, so its only Cebuanos who get offers from Manila universities? Thats strange, and how come none of them never end up playing for the national teams if theyre that good. And how many players do you think there are from Iloilo, Bacolod and Dumaguete who get offers compared to Cebuanos? LOL

Btw, Cebu have good players, but in the end, the FA in Cebu sucks, and they always tend to have internal conflicts and conflict in interest. Just look at Queen City United and some of their players. Cebu dont know how to unite as a team, and thats why in most cases they send a regular club team/school team with only a couple of reinforcements rather than sending a selection team. CFA has new board members, so its hope for them, and they should look to the neighbouring FA`s to learn a thing or two.

  7. By the way Cebu under 23 that you beat was just one school and not a selection, they didnt even do well in local leagues.. Oh before I forget, Cebu also won the Prisaa Narionals, that's how bad Cebu is

  8. Fact is that Cebu is behind from U19 and up to mens category. Look at the recent U19/22/23 national teams, how many Cebuanos were there in the squad?

  11. palarong pambansa football and prisaa football tournament its not a big deal its run by DEP ED and private school not by the PFF.PFF U19 and U23 ang magaling na tournament kasi dito mo makikita ang mga magagaling na players.

    1. Dep Ed is unreliable in terms of pure talents. Hindi rin lahat ng best players nakapaglaro dahil sa palakasan version ng mga guro at impluwensya ng mayayamang mga parents.

  14. To be fair to everybody, its not the performance of every school that counts but a players individual techniques, skill, intelligence and speed is the basis for every national team selection in the PFF criteria. The head coach of U19 is kept in the dark for now but the manager is Mr. Caranza.

that is the good question i've read...me too i want to know also regarding that matter...and most of all what is the selection process done? are there pre-tournament, try-outs happened?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I've seen Aris on Facebook. Seems he was the one conducting the tryout in NCR. His involvement in the selection process is highly questionable considering his the technical director of PFF.

  20. july 15 14:44 for 2001 to 2009 9 years nag champion ang wv sa hs level kaya mag research ka muna.same din sa elementary level mostly won by wv.about sa U23 naman kasalanan nang CFA but nag padala sila nang one school lang.cguro nakita nang CFA yan na ang pinakamagaling na player nang cebu.last year U19 & U23 kahit sa qualifying round di kayo nakapasok.
