Global FC unveiled four foreign players who are expected to play key roles in their United Football League and AFC Cup campaigns.
1. Masaki Yanagawa - Defender
The towering Japanese defender has already made his mark for the People's Club, scoring with a header in his debut match in the PFF-Smart National Club Championship.
Yanagawa has played in Japan's J. League with Vissel Kobe and Ventforet Kofu from 2006 and 2010.
Before making his move to Global, Yanagawa played for Gainare Tottori in the J. League third division.
The defender was also a part of Japan's Under-20 squad that played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. sion 3
2. Samuel Bonney - Defender
The Ghanian is a boost to Global's defensive line. Bonney is already a familiar figure in the UFL, having played for the Loyola Meralco Sparks from 2013 to 2014.
Booney's career highlight is winning the 2013 UFL Cup with the Sparks where they also defeated Global in the quarterfinals en route to the title.
The defender also has experience in playing overseas having played in the Menpora Cup and the Singapore Cup.
3. Renato Gonzales - Midfielder
The Mexican made his debut last Saturday in the 1-1 draw against Green Archers. Gonzalez, who plays in midfield, spent most of his career playing for Club America in Mexico's Liga MX.
Gonzalez also had spells on loan to Merida and Zacatepec in the Liga Ascenso (Mexican second division)
4. Rolf Schlettwein - Defender
The youngest among the foreign reinforcements, Schlettwein has been signed for Global after playing for the youth teams of known La Liga clubs notably RCD Espanyol in 2007-2008 and Atletico de Madrid in 2011-2012.
The nineteen year-old defender was also part of the IMG Academy, development academy of the United States Soccer Federation last year.
