Ceres FC has again proved to be one of the strongest title contenders at the start of the second round elimination of the ongoing 1st Conference of the North Football League 2013, after dumping defending champion Dynamic Builders FC, 2-nil, Sunday at the Ayala North pitch in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Powerhouse clubs Ceres and Dynamic started tough match-ups with both sides trying to win goals, until Dominique Segaya escaped from his defender to nail Ceres’ first goal in the 33rd minute of the first half, and booked an eventual 1-nil advantage at the half.
In the resumption of the second half, the defending champion tried to convert the equalizer, but to no avail, against the more intact Ceres’ wall.
Ceres’ Archie Pamiliar finally gave his team a breather as he scored the second goal in the 69th minute to seal the Transport’s third victory with three draws.
Despite dropping its game, Dynamic Builders remains on top of the team standing with 4-win, a loss and a draw card.
In the other match, after a scoreless first half, Silver Dragon’s Marti Malumbay scored the lone goal of the game in the 70th minute and gave
Trimaxi-Agro FC its second defeat.
Silver Dragons improved its record to 2 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws, while Trimaxi dropped to 3 victories, 2 losses and a draw.
Meanwhile, Real Negrense gave Las Buenas FC its sixth setback on a 4-1 score last Sunday.
The first half came out to be a tough game with Luis Christian Clauor and Paul Espinosa scoring two consecutive goals in the 22nd and 30th minutes of the first half.
In the second half, miscommunication prompted Michael Cornel to send the ball back at their goal in the 53rd minute, giving LBFC the chance to put the game close at 2-1.
But Real remained dominant on the pitch as Cornel and Espinosa scored back-to-back goals in the 64th and 66th minutes of the match.
On the other hand, players who cannot play on March 24 after having been slapped with two yellow cards are Alejandro Montelibano and Marvin Miranda of Trimaxi and D. Colina of Ceres FC./
