AFC Challenge Cup , identifying best runner-up team - UPDATED
Case 2: identifying the best runner-up team if the number of teams in each group varies (please
see Illustration 2)
1. Identify all the runners-up teams in each group.
2. Due to the varying number of teams per group, teams in different group would have
played different number of matches. Therefore, in order to ensure equality when
comparing the runner-up teams of all the groups, all teams will be compared across
similar number of matches. AFC will decide on the number of matches. In principle, the
results of the matches between the runner-up team and the bottom placed team in the
group will be considered null and void. All points, goal scored and goals conceded in
this match will not be taken into account.
3. As such, the best runner-up team among those ranked second in the groups will be
determined as follows:
a. Greater number of points obtained from group matches identified by AFC;
b. Goal difference resulting from group matches identified by AFC;
c. Greater number of goals scored in group matches identified by AFC;
d. Fewer number of points calculated according to the number of yellow and red
cards received by the Team in the group matches identified by AFC;
e. Drawing of lots.

so Bangladesh stands to lose the most(so far) from Brunei's pulling out, from a Goal Difference to 5 to 1 with their 4-0 win against NMI not to be considered.
ReplyDeleteBangladesh is definitely out and Laos seems to profit if I understood properly Laos are definitely qualified.
ReplyDeleteBrunei should get a lifetime ban for what they did.
ReplyDeleteBrunei recently got unbanned and i don't believe they are dumb enough to do something which will definitely kick them out of fifa for a long while again.
ReplyDeleteLike what they did just now? Ban them. They are so unreliable and they are a joke.
DeleteCalm down. So i meant they would eventually show up. Let's wait and hope so.
DeleteThey will show up if FIFA or the AFC says something about the issue. But if not, they wont! Bangladesh should say something about because it all of a sudden put them in a very precarious position. Brunei should get a lifetime ban. They are a joke! They are untrustworthy! They are unreliable! Get rid of them now!
Deletethese suckers thing because they have oil and other resources they can do what they want...ban them and withdraw their afc and fifa membership....hope bangladesh will file a complaint....as they are the BIG losers right now....and that can also happen to us in case we just win one match......
Deletetheres a report that brunei is still coming? no official report on AFC website that they have withdrawn.
