The Philippine Azkals’ FIFA international friendly against the US Virgin Islands has been cancelled, the team announced on their official website Wednesday.
The Azkals were scheduled to play the US Virgin Islands team on August 17 in Indianapolis, Indiana (August 18 in Manila).
The official Azkals website said the US Virgin Islands backed out of the friendly as they were having difficulty making it on time for the match.
“This is a training camp so we continue training and we will have scrimmages with other teams,” Azkals manager Dan Palami said in a statement.
The Azkals management is trying to get in touch with other clubs to replace the Virgin Islands friendly.
The Azkals are on a 15-day training camp in the United States as part of their preparations for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup in November.
Last Sunday, they played the Chicago Inferno of the Premier Development League, losing 1-3.
