Ceres-Negros FC is aiming to clinch the PFL title when they face Global Cebu FC on July 25 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in the City of Manila.
The busmen are just one point shy of the title after improving to 51 points after the win against Global. Second place Kaya FC is currently at 33 points but can only reach 51 if they win all their remaining games.
Ceres has dominated and are still unbeaten in their season series with Global. An inspired performance from Stephan Schrock powered the busmen to a 2-0 victory last April.
Braces from Stephan Schrock and Mike Ott were enough to prevent a late comeback from the Cebu side which saw the match finish 4-3 in favor of Ceres.
A weakened Global squad bowed to Ceres-Negros last Saturday in their third meeting at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Goals from Bienvenido Maranon and Curt Dizon saw the busmen go ahead in the first half but a barrage of goals in the second saw them finish 7-1.
Ceres-Negros is already preparing for next week’s AFC Cup match and Coach Risto Vidakovic is looking to test his wards in the forthcoming match.
A win would be enough for Ceres-Negros to clinch its second consecutive league title.
The league match is set to kickoff at 7pm and will be shown live via PFLtv.ph.
