The rivalry continues for Ceres and Kaya as they face each other for the second time this year at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City on May 12.
Both teams had an eventful first meeting when Ceres-Negros came from a goal down to claim its first victory in the Philippine Foofball League this season.
Jordan Mintah silenced the home crowd with the opening goal in the match banking on a defensive error in the second half to put the visitors ahead.
The busmen pushed back with Maranon assisting both Manuel and Mike Ott with consecutive goals to snatch the victory from the Iloilo squad.
The well rested Kaya side are the favorites in this tie as they had their last match last May 5 when they disposed of JPV Marikina 4-1 at the Binan Football Stadium.
The LBC backed squad are currently on a three-game winning streak after their only loss in Panaad and could have made it four if their match versus Global Cebu was not postponed.
Ceres-Negros are still undefeated but their streak will be challenged as they are only a few days removed from their thrilling victory over Yangon United in the AFC Cup.
Ceres assistant Ian Treyes was very straightforward when asked about the composition of his team against Kaya.
“To be honest, were going to use our other players tomorrow. I expect guys like Dods (Pasinabo) and the rest to step up as we may miss some who have played last Wednesday,” said the former Ceres Captain.
Pasinabo is looking forward to the challenge of playing their rivals from across the Strait and is keen to get a result tomorrow.
“We all know that Kaya is always strong are well rested. We expect a good game tomorrow and were gonna stick to our plan and protect our home field,” said the former National standout.
The Bacolod squad is currently on top of the table with 15 points after five games while the adopted Iloilo club are currently third with 11 points after six matches.
A win by Kaya would see them leapfrog Davao who only leads them by a point but has played one more match. A victory by Ceres would ensure their separation from the pack of the league.
The match is set to kick off at 7pm and will be shown live over PFLtv.ph. The home fans will be treated to a free match with the seats available on a first come, first served basis.
