About a month ago, Super League squad Melaka United signed on promising Swedish midfielder Omid David Lazarte Nazari.
But the 25-year-old Iranian-Filipino footballer came down with severe food poisoning just shortly after arriving here.
Nazari lost several kilograms, reported Berita Harian and missed his first three pre-season matches under his new club.
Melaka United FC Association deputy president Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi told the daily that the club was concerned about Nazari’s health, with an international friendly against Cambodia coming up next week.
“I hope he will recover quickly. His touch in the midfield is very inspiring but we have not been able to try him out yet,” said Wira Mohd Yusoff, adding that Nazari was able to have one training session with the club’s coach before he became ill.
