Ceres-La Salle FC is continuously building a powerhouse squad ahead of its debut in the First Division of the United Football League (UFL) when the season kicks off late this year.
After signing Fil-German midfielder Manny Ott, another national team standout inked a deal with the newly-promoted UFL team Ceres FC.
Fil-Am striker Nate Burkey reportedly has officially signed up with the Bacolod-based club Ceres FC.
Burkey started his professional career in 2011-2012 UFL seasons where he suited up for the Kaya FC and with Pachanga Diliman FC as his last team before he transferred to Ceres.
The 29-year-old Washington DC-born veteran forward last wore the national colors in summer during the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup in Maldives.
With Burkey’s entry with the multi-titled Ceres-La Salle FC, it’s expected that the provincial club will be one of the toughest clubs in the league’s premier division.
Just in the off-season, the reigning UFL Division 2 champion and back-to-back PFF-Smart Club Men’s Championship titlist has already signed up five players into its roster.
Over the weekend, Ceres inked former Azkals’ Fil-German midfielder Manuel Gelito “Manny” Ott, while signed Fil-Belgian left back Jeffrey Christiaens, Fil-Spanish central defender Juani Guirado and Spanish striker Adriano Gallardo late June and early this month.
Ceres FC is expected to formally present the newly acquired players as well as the entire roster for the upcoming UFL tournament anytime soon./WDJ
