FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY (FEU) edged University of Santo Tomas (UST), 1-0, on Thursday to extend the men’s football finals to another match in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 72 at the Ateneo field.
Jason Cordova scored at close range off a Noel Espinosa pass in the 22nd minute to nip the Golden Booters, who entered the match with a twice-to-beat advantage, and to force a deciding game for the title on Sunday.
In the women’s side, UST also forced a deciding title game for the crown after defeating De La Salle, 2-0.
Marianne Narciso scored both goals as she took advantage of the absence of De La Salle’s top goal keeper Haya Ibarra to beat the Lady Archers, who are armed with a twice-to-beat edge in the finals.
Narciso knocked in the first goal in the third minute to give the Tigresses an early lead. She connected on the second goal 10 minutes from time.
