The Negros Island Region elementary boys' football team had advanced to the Palarong Pambansa quarterfinals in Albay today.
The NIR boys settled for a scoreless draw with defending champion National Capital Region in their final elimination round match yesterday afternoon.

Western Visayas, with three wins and a loss in Group B, will most likely
face Soccksargen, the leader in Group C with a Davao-Zamboanga encounter looming in the other Round of Eight match.
NIR routed Ilocos, 6-0 and edged Eastern Visayas, 2-1, in its first two qualifying matches.
Our boys will have to play aggressively to make it to the semifinals, assistant coach Noriel Revilla, told DAILY STAR, adding, our players are capable of doing it.
The NIR XI is spearheaded by the NOPSSCEA Selection from Trinity
Christian School, St. La Salle - Integrated School, STI-WestNegros University and Don Bosco Technical Institute with reinforcements from San Carlos, Kabankalan and Bayawn cities.
