Home team Ceres- La Salle FC aims for a win tonight against visiting Tampines Rovers from Singapore in the Group E Qualifier of the AFC Cup at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
The game will start at 7 p.m.
With a 1-1 draw against Tampines in their March 15 match in Singapore, Ceres head coach Franklin Muescan said the players are motivated and the support of the home crowd will be a big factor.
“We have to continue what we are doing because the players are in good form,” Muescan said in a press conference yesterday.
He added that the players are ready to give everything and they are aware that the match could be the turning point in their campaign to advance into the last 16 of the AFC Cup.
The 1-all draw against Ceres and the win against Sheikh Jamal of Bangladesh and Selangor FA of Malaysia earned Tampines 7 to take the lead in Group E. Ceres stands at No. 2 with 5 points after a 2-2 draw against Selangor (played in Panaad on Feb. 23) and the March 8 win against Sheik Jamal in Bangladesh.
Just as determined to advance into the next stage of the AFC Cup, , Tampines coach V Sundramoorthy said their team hopes to get a good result in tonight's game.
“The boys are fresh, even though we've travelled far, and we want to get a good result,” Sundramoorthy said in the press conference yesterday.
Earlier, in a radio interview over RMN DYHB, coach Muescan said that with the support of the Negrense crowd, they have a good chance of winning against Tampines.
“They are more experienced than us but we saw their weaknesses when we played against them in Singapore.” Muescan said.*NAB
