UAAP football: UP booters down UE

Standings: NU 7 pts, DLSU 7, FEU 5, UST 5, UP 4, UE 1, AdU 0, ADMU 0.

7 p.m. – NU vs UST (Men)

University of the Philippines blanked University of the East, 2-0, to claim its first win in the UAAP Season 78 men's football tournament on Saturday at the McKinley Hill Stadium.
Raphael Resuma's 18th minute strike from an assist by Roland Saavedra opened the scoring for the Fighting Maroons.
Vincent Aguilar then blasted a late goal, scoring it straight to the bottom right corner in the 89th minute to clinch it for UP. 
The Maroons, who missed rookie JB Borlongan and Christian Lapas due to national U19 duties in China, now has four points in fifth place.
The Red Warriors, who have yet to score a goal this season, remained at one point.
Defending champion Far Eastern University and La Salle will clash in a rematch of last season's Finals at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the same venue in Taguig City.
National University and University of Santo Tomas will meet in the day's other match at 7 p.m.
Still the remaining unbeaten teams in the league, the Bulldogs and the Green Archers are on top of the table with seven points, with the Bustillos-based booters ahead in terms of goals.
The Tamaraws and the Growling Tigers are tied with five points for the third spot, drawing twice and winning once.

Funny to see UAAP is only based in Manila while many Universities in Visayas like University of Cebu, University of San Carlos, University of St La Salle, West Negros, Silliman U, Foundation U, UNO-R and Mindanao's Xavier U, University of Mindanao, Mindanao State U and many others who produces many players are being left in the dust and not included in the "UAAP " Manila only? If this is so , then the people of the south has the right to separate from Imperial and dictator manila. It made me think that maybe the Muslims of Mindanao really needed a state of their own because they are very neglected and their taxpayers money always goes to manila without even bothering of any projects or welfare they can offer to the people of the south...

    1. "school" from vis-min area are actually strong enough to compete with the so-called glamour school of uaap..in fact, i believe that the real football competition for college football should be based in the vismin area.

    2. Well most players who play in UAAP are from the provinces..most players in the National Level is from Manila since they have access to tryouts and VisMin area doesnt..
