AFC CUP GROUP E QUALIFIERS Ceres FC, Selangor in 2-2 draw

Ceres – La Salle FC started their campaign for the 2016 AFC Cup trophy with a 2-2 draw against the visiting Selangor FA from Malaysia last night before an estimated crowd of 8,000 at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Coming out strong and aggressive in the first 10 minutes of the match, home team Ceres – La Salle dictated the tempo with Filipino-German Stephan Schrock establishing his presence in the middle while attempting shots on goal.
Schrock's 18 th minute strike that defied Selangor's defense had the crowd roaring.
But with its decades of football history, Selangor could not be easily thwarted. Focused and committed, Mauro Olivi booted in the equalizer in the 34 th minute as he blocked Ceres' goalkeeper Mike Casas clearance and sent the ball rolling into the net.
“It was an individual error. But this is football and everybody commit mistakes,” Ceres head coach Franklin Muescan said during the post-match press conference.
More important he said was the way the home team bounced back to salvage a draw.
The blunder distracted and slowed down Ceres' offense as the score was tied 1-all at halftime.
Finding their rhythm in the second half, Selangor found themselves ahead in the 60 th minute as Hafiz Kamal converted a penalty by sending it over the wall and sailing past Casas' outstretched hands.
With the time running out, Ceres remained on the hunt for its second goal. A pass from Schrock to Manny Ott in the 77 th minute had the crowd on their feet but the shot was wide, while a cross from Patrick Reichelt to Bienvi Marañon in the 79 th was saved by Selangor keeper Norazlan Bin Razali.
With three minutes left in regulation, Schrock's cross from the left found Adrian Gallardo who completed the play with a header for a 2-2 draw.
With both teams getting a point each for the draw, Selangor head coach Zainal Abidin Bin Hassan said it was good enough for them.
“We missed our target of getting 3 points but it was a tough match. Ceres is a very good team and they keep on playing good football. It was a good game for both teams,” Hassan said.
For Ceres, coach Muescan said addjustments will have to be made in time for their away games on March 8 in Bangladesh and March 15 in Singapore.
The Negros-based team will have its second home game in the Group E Qualifier on April 12 against Singapore on April 12 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium and back to Panaad on May 10 against Bangladesh.*NAB

    1. dami reklamo .. gawa nlng kayo ng team na purong pinoy .. if sabi nyo magaling talaga ung d nkuha s ceres or ibang club.

    2. Typical Pinoy mentality ka cgegreklamo boy, Ganun talaga mga sagot nyo because the truth hurts d ba?

    4. Well Fuck you !! This is football blogspot and every football fan has the right to express his/her feeling towards the state of Philippine Football. These are all observations and suggestions so why make a statement that we are complaining. it just shows you don;t have the balls to debate here or even make some clean facts or ideas about the improvement of the beautiful sport. All you knew is you cannot answer any complains and maybe you are working ng the Philippine Fucked upped Football? Maybe you are one of those men who are having a man crush on the fil foreigners that's why your hellbent on defending them. Your quotes are pathetic and irrelevant on your statement.

    7. Wala siyang punto to begin with kundi puro reclamo at kagaguhan lang
Ceres players are playing for their club, TO REPRESENT BACOLOD and to make Negros proud and not to 'eke out' a hometown hero like the reclamador bastard wants

    8. Ceres FC does have a grassroots program..DFL is being used to scout players which nilalagay nila under NOFA U teams..Casas is a Nofa player..ang hindi man makuha ng Ceres for the NOFA teams, gets scouted for the UAAP teams sa Manila..so all in all win win situation for the players who get scouted..And sana wag mag expect na may makukunat tayong homegrown players ngayon since football resurgence sa Pinas is less than a decade..And speaking of homegrown players na naglalaro abroad..marami..Escalante brothers from Bacolod used to play sa NASL..A teammate of mine here plays for a Saudi club now..Teammate ko nung HS sa DBTI plays for a team in New Zealand..although hindi malalaking teama, at least they play professionally there

    1. Isang problema yan.

    2. Immature comment. Men like you are the reason why I would rather be Micheal Jackson and laugh at all your endless banter. To correct you my dear sir, DFL is school-based because that is where some kids first learn the game. If you want to improve the game, then start a program in your barangay. And some schools joining are public like Mabini ES, R. Magsaysay ES, etc. These schools must be very rich indeed. And as for foreign students, I know Harunori Aoki is a student of La Salle Bacolod.

And as for pride, it is not made overnight. Someone has to build the foundation, then the rest will follow. It is like the chicken-or-egg problem. In managing a club, you need to win. Who would like to look on a losing team?

I know sir that you are passionate in our sport, but being an armchair critic will not change anything. And worse, you are merely shouting at a wall(pun intended). The best way to promote the game? Buy a ball and kick it, with your family, your friends, anyone you meet. Then the kids will follow.

(I will give the benefit of the doubt that you are not a fan of a club penalized for violations in a match against a club influenced by the patron saint of teachers, but please do not reply to this flimsy comment. You are only making a fool of yourself, and this is the only time that I will post a comment in this page, or in this post at least, because that is what gentlemen do. If indeed you reply, please spare me the profanities, it only shows how immature you are.)

      Hasta luego!(moonwalking)

      P.S. Think before you speak.
