Queen City United stuns Stallion, 4-1

CEBU Queen City United (CQCU) toppled defending champion Stallion FC ,4-1,
to keep the lead in Group C of the UFL Cup at the Emperador Stadium yesterday.
“Yes (it is our most impressive game). Stallion FC is the defending champion.
We can now be called giant-killers. Hopefully we can sustain our momentum.
We have to be consistent and we have to step up,” coach Mario Ceniza told
Sun.Star Cebu.
CQCU beat Philippine Air Force (PAF), 3-0, and then had a subpar 2-2 draw with
 Bright Star FC.
CQCU still holds the top spot with seven points, while Stallion FC,
the reigning UFL Cup titleholders that was hampered by personnel changes
dropped to third place. PAF moved up to second after a 3-1 victory over
Bright Star FC.
“We contained them. We penetrated their defense because of our midfield,”
he said. “Right from the start we really dominated.”
Following a hotly contested first half, Ahmed Camara hit an amazing
volley from a cross in the 50th minute to get CQCU going.
Three minutes after going into the game as a substitute, Pintho Kabulo
made his presence felt with a goal in the 73rd for a 2-0 lead for
 the Cebuanos and Junard
Aguilar hit the back of the net with a header in the 76th minute.
Benjamin Gordon scored for Stallion FC in the 86th minute
from a penalty but Aguilar immediately answered with a goal
in the next play.

  2. What's there to hate about? No Rufo, no Canas, no hope for Stallions. It's as simple as that since they couldn't keep their best players in the squad. Imo they will be nothing more than middle-class this season. Anything higher than that would be a big surprise!

New Top 4: Global, Loyola, Archers, Kaya
    Dark Horse: Pachanga
    Middle Class: Stallions, Pasargad
Top Candidates for Relegation: TS, Army and Squad that will take Nomad's place.

    1. Stallions were good even without the Spanish duo. Its just that Queen City stepped up against the Ilonggos. Nevertheless, still a proud Cebuano over here!

    2. Yes, I'm not saying that they are going to be bad, as in having to battle relegation. They just won't be as dominant and good as they were in the last season. I don't want to downplay CQCU as well, since I think they have one of the best coaches in the country. If they join the Second Division then they have a good chance of gaining promotion along with Manila Jeepney.

    3. If stallions is a middle class team in your analysis, where do you think would CQCU be?

  3. Good one for the cebuanos. But this really shows that the Stallions are no where near the quality they had in the past. No disrespect to Cebu, but theyre not a top quality team. They have reinforced with africans and other visayan players, but Stallions is on a downslope.

I wonder how furious Ernie is atm. LOL

  4. One goal of CQCU is to prove to the football community that home growns can excel given the proper training and exposure, they are playing with only 4 imports with only 2 in the field each time, 9 home grown, they know that they are not a quality team, but this is not achieved overnight, they even lost their top striker to Ceres 1 week before the start of the cup.

  5. CQCU shoul be emulated as how a football club trains, they don't rely on 1 or 2 imports to be good, this is evidence clearly when their top striker was taken by Ceres just a week before and adjustments were immediately made, they are a team that has been together for 2 years training hard everyday. Even with ni tournaments to play. We hope that they will win more games so that the notion that local players are no good can be disproven... Go CQCU we are behind you.

    1. Together for 2 years? That doesnt seem to add up. Theyve had several changes in the roster before this season.

    2. Majority of the player were from the same CQCU that got clobbered by stallions 8-0 two years ago... Which makes this win very much sweeter... Go go go Cebu!!

  6. sana lang kapag nakakuha sila ng success eh wag naman na sana sila magdagdag ng mga imports sa kanilang team youth players na lang ng Cebu o kahit saan man na local

  7. Iisa lng ang gusto natin. More homegrown players should be given a chance to play in the UFL and in the their starting line up.

    1. I think no need to pick up any imports since a lot of good cebuano footballers. Go (CQCU).

  8. Most of the players of cebu comes from san carlos city, negros oriental and mindanao. So they are not really homegrown.

    1. So where then consider home grown??

    2. If you believe that coming from outside Cebu is not homegrown still you have to check your facts because 15 of 25 are from Cebu. That's 60% pure Cebuanos. Now the haters are coming out. he-he-he

    3. Not home grown are those azkals who are born in foreign countries.
They are germans, british by birth.
Perhaps the only reason why they intend to play for us is because they know their chances of playing for their native country is none.
Ask schrock this question if germany and azkals call him up the same time, who will he choose to play for??
      The answer will be germany.
So azkals is a second alternative for these players, not loyalty to the country.
And for your info Cebu is part of the country.
We should be glad people from the country are developing.
PFF should be doing this more than going ard the world like a club scout looking for players.
