Global seeing action in PFF-Smart Club Championship

Add the PFF-Smart Club Championship to Global FC's already-stacked schedule this year.
Global will represent the Leyte Football Association, marking the first time they will represent the province in a national competition.
Although Global sees action in the UFL, the club is actually a registered member of Leyte FA headed by club owner Dan Palami.
The People's Club participated in the last two editions of the competition, winning the title in the inaugural season in 2011. Global reached the quarterfinals in the previous edition, where it lost to eventual winners Ceres FC last January.
Global are grouped in Group E for the regional group stage qualifying rounds where they are grouped with Cebu FA's Cebu Queen City United FC and Northern Samar FA's Hijos FC.
Global will face Hijos FC on Saturday in Tacloban, and will meet Cebu Queen City United FC either on October 29 or 30, to determine which team will advance to the final qualifying round.

Leyte was previously disqualified , and Cebu and Northern Samar played qualifiers earlier this month. Now they have to play another qualifier...

From Watchmen Daily Journal Sept 30

With the 2013 Smart-PFF Club Championships Group E set to kick off Wednesday, the Leyte Football Association was stripped out of the competition after organizers found violation on the team.
In a communication from PFF, Dick Empirado, chairman of the PFF Competitions Committee and a member of the PFF Board of Governors, wrote that upon the deadline of submission of all club entries participating in this tournament, Leyte FA submitted as its club participant-members and officials from the Global Football Club (Global FC).
On  inquiry  of  the  PFF Competitions  Department  in  its  official capacity  as administrator  of the PFF-Smart  National Club Championships  2013, the department reported to the PFF Competitions Committee that the Global Football Club (Global FC) is officially registered  as a  regular member of the National  Capital Region Football Association (NCRFA) and not with Leyte FA.

Thus, upon proper inquiry and deliberation of the PFF Competitions Committee, they have concluded that two (2) violations have been clearly committed by Leyte FA. First, by submitting the players and officials and/or the Global FC as its official club entry who is a regular member of the NCRFA and second, no provincial elimination report was submitted that would justify its official representative to the competition.

  4. And there they go again with their "the people's club" bullshit!!

  5. What the hell is Rufo doing playing in the PFF Smart Club Championships?

Personally, I couldn't give a crap who he plays for. He can play for Global or whoever....in the UFL. But the PFF Smart Club Championships?

That's pathetic. Global is a club who doesn't develop homegrown players.

This is pure bullshit! First they were ruled out, and now theyre in again. WTF! Only in the Philippines. I bet Palami had something to do with this. Palami Football Federation!

He did not even discovered the Azkals , he was just at the proper place and time when they won a place in the Suzuki cup which started it all. We owe it to the players and not Dan Palami. It was the late Marie Martinez that started the Azkal Team before , it was just named by Dan when they won , and the media had gone wild because of this. Please Go back to your history of football in the Philippines (50 or 100 years ago) mayado mo namang nilalait ang Pilipino Football players.

  9. Am I the only one who feels a bit sorry for CQCU here and is tired of bashing on Palami? Granted I will always hate Global, but it's the same arguments over and over again. Why Global can participate in this competition although they are part of thr UFL is beyond me.

  10. The sudden appearance of Global in the PFF National Club Championship despite the fact that the regional qualifiers for the Visayas concluded last October 6 will surely generate resentment and anger among the other provincial participants.

There are talks that certain quarters are already vehemently protesting the decision of PFF and are threatening to pull out from the competition ---and rightly so.

Didn’t Global emerge as winners of the 1st PFF-Smart National Club Championship representing the NCR? Will we see Global in the near future representing a Mindanao Provincial Association? LOL!

  11. Palami once again showing he is able to abuse his power.
Sick and tired of people saying this fat guy is the saviour of football.
He is doing more damage then good.

  12. This is a very sensitive matter, from what i kow CQCU and Global are sister teams, owners are very good friends, there should have been delicadeza before a decision was made, NCR should have been the right FA that Global should qualify, ironically NCR didnt send a representative, I wonder why.... PFF let them go through NCR instead, to save your faces since you've already declared Cebu as the representative of the Visayas.. Tsk tsk

    1. Global and Laos FC are sister teams. Laos is the club that is actually based in Leyte, while Global plays for the NCR.

    2. Oh and thr NCR will probably send it's representatives via thr next UFL Cup, just like last year.

  14. The big loss of the Philippine National Futsal Team was due to Palami's greed for power and control. He recently literally fired the former National Futsal Team Manager for unknown reasons and appointed his buddy Mel Macasaquit, owner and CEO of the Azkals Sports Bar. What are the credentials of Macasaet aside from being a fan of the Azkals and Global-----NONE thus the humiliating results.

Even the nickname of the Philippine National Men’s Team “AZKALS” is a trademark registered under the name of Palami and not the PFF. Where in the world does this happen. He treats everything in football including the national teams like his own property.

Now we have this controversy regarding Global FC eligibility. The two eligibility requirements are a club must be a member of its provincial association and that the provincial association must conduct its own provincial eliminations to determine their representative and a report complete Tournament Report must be submitted which should include results and list of participants. Granted that Global is a member of Leyte what Tournament Report did Leyte submit when Leyte did not conduct any provincial elimination round wherein Global participated? Here in Leyte if you ask around people will tell you that no such tournament was conducted even the players of Global will not be able to give you any detail on such a tournament. Surely if Palami submitted a report it can’t be anything else but fabricated.

    1. You are absolutely right ...

Mel Macasaquet is one of the many money maker of Dan Palami... his name was only put there so that the funds will not be traced to be going to his pocket and the people form PFF. Mr. Macasaquet does not even heard of futsal and does not even know a shit about the game.

      Delete
    2. Mel is a close friend of Palami and Ace Bright, and Mel also has a sports agency together with Ace Bright. It would be ignorant to say that he doesnt know shit about the game. I know for a fact that Mel knows pretty much what futsal is, but this doesnt really change the fact that he is not qualified for this kind of job. He is a young man who has his pockets full of money, or his parents, and he is benefitting of the sudden rise of the popularity which the azkals has gained the last couple of years.

Azkals is a trademark, and together with that comes the money.

What is clear here is that the PFF should put their feet down and do something about Palamis involvements. But who are they to say no to a man who has given them basically everything they have wished for?

      Delete
    3. Mel started to have an interest in futsal because of Misagh Bahadoran who is one of his talents and a player of Global ... he coined the name Muzang and started promoting the players of his so called national team "philippine Muzang" headed by Dan Palami way back before it was officially submitted in PSC-POC. He said it was just a Club but their tweets says otherwise. The national teams committee and the managers committee of PFF placed Mel in the position and changed the old managers , the coaches and got some of the players that was recruited and trained by the former management.

For the involvement of Mr. Dan Palami , PFF should have stopped Dans reign a long time ago. now he has all the players under his marketing and management contract , PFF cannot move without giving him the royalty. He practically monopolized the national team players, by heading the national teams committee (in almost all division) so that PFF cannot move and stop him.

Basically , PFF cannot do anything to stop him , but to say that is because he had given PFF everything they wished for is something I cannot fathom , maybe PFF had given everything to Mr. Palami that is why he is in this position. Mr. Palami did not discover the Azkals , it was a PFF old management and president that did it and the name came from the players themselves. And now he is claiming it . Even if we change the president of PFF Azkals will be coined to Mr. Palami and his marketing arm owning them . Di ba dapat PFF has the exclusive right for the national team and the Name Azkal hindi si Dan and his marketing / management group.

  15. Kulelat lahat ng Youth teams natin na nag represent this year for AFC and AFF (maliban nlng sa U19 Teen Azkals dahil ayaw ibigay ni Carranza ang managerial position sa mga tao ni Palami) because Dan Palami changes all their managers and coaching staffs..
    U13- last place
U16- 2nd to the last due to changes in team manager and coaching staff
U23 - disapprove by POC due to lack of exposure (Brian Reid of Global FC was the new head coach )

POC need to rein back PFF.

    2. There are many sports that have been delivering result in PSC-POC. They would not even bother with the arrogant attitude of PFF that thinks and feels they are the most popular sports in the Philippines because of the AZKALS. The sponsors will soon see the whole picture that they investing in the wrong field and going to the wrong pocket.

'Monopolized" is the right word to described palami's handling of Philippine Football domestic or internationally.

  21. I was an applicant at APT, palami's company. I don't think they need Futsal to earn. apt earns billions I guess. For Futsal, I don't think mel macasaquit is even interested. Bahadoran said macasaquit is just there to help. Temporary lang Yata. that doesn't mean he doesn't understand shit about futsal. he knows the sport. last thing i heard, they started doing Futsal clinics for kids with bahadoran in malls. He's more focused on his sports agency that handles a lot of players like schrock, Caligdong and a lot of Pba players. I read from bob Guerrero, he works for an airline as a pilot. The former Futsal manager was essi, the pure Iranian guy who puts only Iranians in the national team. Iran team tayo? who ever takes the position sana naman Pinoy. macasaquit is doing his job. Palami did many things for Philippine football. he never claimed he owns football in the Philippines. he is an asset to this industry.

Kaya salamat sayo Palami salami! mabuhay ka!
