From Karlo Sacamos
PAKISTAN provided a lifeline for the Philippine men’s football team
as it edged out Chinese Taipei, 1-0, in the Peace Cup on Sunday at the
Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
The Pakistani victory vaulted them to the top spot with three points
and a goal difference of +1 and kept the door open for the Azkals to
defend the title they captured in the inaugural edition last year.
The Filipino booters, who lost to Chinese Taipei, 1-2, on Friday and
are in third place without a point and a -1 GD to show, now need to win
by two goals against Pakistan in the final day of the tournament on
Tuesday to retain the crown.
Pakistan unlocked the Taiwanese defense early on, with Zeshan Rehman
firing the lone goal that mattered seven minutes into the game.
Pakistan conjured another chance a minute before second-half stoppage
time when Mohammed Ali headed a shot that was only denied by the
Taiwanese keeper.

ReplyDeleteFor the Peace Cup only 20-man squads are allowed but a squad of 22 was announced for the Philippines. Do you know which two aren't part of the official 20? I'm assuming Deyto and somebody else... don't know who.
This is the kind of disrespect for the normal rules of the game which allows other countries NT's to treat PHI with no respect.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Azkaleros; when you do eventually produce good homegrown players - which you sure as hell will if poor kids get a chance - don't blame them for being OFW's.
Puro rich people kc ang football players lol mga me yaya pa hbang nglslaro
