The Global conundrum (Let's give them hell for 90 minutes)

By Mike Limpag

IT seems, the issue of who has the right to represent which FA in a national tournament has never been resolved.  Then, it was case of players who play in the elimination round of one FA, representing another FA in the regional finals, and yet another FA in the national finals.

Worse, clubs who lose in the regional elims would just jump ship and represent another FA in the national finals.

The latest issue is Global FC, and, I have to say, all the parties involved--the PFF, CFA, Leyte and Global--come out the loser in this fiasco.

Leyte FA was first disqualified from the Smart Club Championships for fielding Global, now, Global is one win away from the second round of the Smart Club championships.  Why is that so? The loser in this scenario? Global.

When Cebu faced Hijos of Samar last October, the winner was supposed to advance to the next round as Global was already eliminated, but what most don't know is that even before the match started, Leyte FA has already written the PFF regarding its disqualification.

Cebu won, 8-1, and was set to play in the next round, announced to be in Bacolod on Nov. 6-10 and suddenly, Global comes in the picture. Loser, PFF.

To be honest, I thought the fact that the PFF let the Cebu vs. Hijos match push through meant it denied Leyte FA's appeal. And I was only reminded of that appeal when Global suddenly came in the picture and it was announced it was to face Hijos and Cebu in the Smart Club regionals. Talk about acting on something urgent very late. Loser, PFF.

Then Global routs Hijos, 23-0, and you have someone like Jason de Jong tweeting, "What the f*** was that?"  That, Jason, was a fuckin football match that wasn’t supposed to happen. Loser, Global.

Cebu, as expected, isn't taking the surprise lightly  and is questioning Global's sudden re-entry. Loser, Cebu.

And of course, for those who only knew of Global's disqualification and to suddenly read about Global's re-entry, can't help but think, "Is the PFF tilting the odds in favor of Leyte FA, which has Dan Palami as the head?" Loser, Global.

Like I said, nobody wins in this latest fiasco.

    3. Ceres FC from the Visayas eliminated Global FC in the 2nd season of the PFF Smart National Club Championship. So to generalize that all provinces in the Visayas are sub par isn't factual.

    4. Visayan football subpar? Sino ba ang homegrown player na taga Leyte at nagalalaro sa GlobalFC? D ba puro laking abroad mga players ng Global? eh sino ngayon ang subpar?

  2. How did global re-enter from being disqualified already? That should be explained as there are criterias that should be followed for a team to become eligible to represent their FA. This has never been divulged and has been kept off our noses, this i yhink is what baffled Cebu. PFF can save their asses if they can explain this convincingly, as for Global, of course they will move heaven and earth, by hook or by crook, throw everything including the kitchen sink, and worse of all is scar the very good relationship that the two teams share, just to get a place in the tournament, which could have been all avoided if Global passed through NCRFA, which did not send a representative, and where they originally belong and registered.. Knock knock PFF do something while there is still time..

    1. How Global re-entered from being disqualified has been kept off from the public simply because it cannot be justified. If they try to justify their sudden inclusion it will surely open a can of worms.

Rightfully so Mr. Limpag at least Cebu has the balls to question Global’s sudden appearance. First of all the Visayas Regional Group Qualifying Rounds officially ended last October 6 and it was announced that CQCU and La Salle-Ceres have qualified for the final rounds slated on November 8 -17. Second Global did not meet the eligibility requirements regardless what Palami claims. Lastly it is not only Cebu who questions the sudden appearance of Global. The courage of Cebu FA to stand up and speak up does not make Cebu FA a loser on the other hand Mr. Limpag being Palami’s obedient lap dog makes you the biggest loser. Lol

Word is Palami has gone back to Manila to twist arms again in the PFF to get the decision on the complaint of Cebu FA to favor his team Global. If he succeeds then consider the PFF Smart National Championship a total farce.

  7. If Cebu questions qualification of Global GC, it should raise its objection to the Tournament Committee which earlier reconsidered its decision disqualifying Global FC.......But only writer Limpag raises objection.....Tournament Committee reconsidered after determining Global FC is indeed a regular member of Leyte FA and only an associate member of NCR FA. NCR FA did not authorize any club to represent it in the current tournament.....Cebu Queen City plays in UFL but is a regular member of Cebu FA. Ceres FC plays in UFL but is a regular member of NOFA. Same with Global FC......Too many armchair experts here.....Did Limpag read the Tournament Regulations before writing? Or ask anybody from the PFF-Smart Tournament Committee?.....

  8. Too many Armchair experts! YAHOO!
A Club may only register as a member with one Provincial FA---that's the general rule no matter how you twist it. Global is the only club perhaps in the world who is a member of 2 Provincial FA's. Ceres, Queen City, and Stallions all play in the UFL but none of these clubs are registered with any other Provincial FA except their mother provincial fa. Global is unique ------a law unto themselves!

  9. Pseudo experts... Only one Regular Membership...but can have several associate memberships.....A club or a person or a corporation who wants to help football can be an associate member of ALL Provincial FAs.....so long as the PFA admits it as such associate member. That is the problem with pseudo experts who do not read the by laws of PFF and PFAs....he he he. An associate member is there to extend help but DOES NOT have the right to vote or to be voted upon....Read and study more experts so you learn more.....before you open your mouths.....

  10. Some armchair experts are more Popish than the Pope. Clear that even Cebu FA has not questioned the decision of Tournament Committee....about qualification of Global FC as representative of Leyte FA.
