New Fil-Spanish for Azkals ?

    His full name is Carlos Alberto Martínez de Murga Olaivar. In the English system, it would be just Carlos Alberto. His mother's maiden name would be Martinez I believe and his nickanme is Carli. He plays right back for his team.

    I'm confused now.

    In that pic its Carlos Alberto Martinez de la Murga Olaivar.

    cj's now saying it's simply Carlos Alberto Martinez de Murga Olaivar.

    Other sources say its Carlos Alberto Martinez-Murga Olaivar.

    Using Spanish naming customs, what would it be? I'm guessing it's Carlos Alberto Martinez?

    Well certainly he has a lot to live up to with the name Carlos Alberto, as there are a lot of famous Brazilian footballers who go by that name. Let us just call him Carli, the nickname he goes by in Spain to avoid confusion or just plain Carlos Alberto.

    that's exaclty what i was thinking, simply "carlos alberto martinez".

    but if martinez is his father's surname, then his mother's maiden name is "murga olaivar"??? or as said above, his father's surname could possibly be "martinez-murga"?? fuck these long ass names! lol.

    and "lateral derecho" is right back!

    Because of the confusion in his name, I asked on his facebook page which name is his father's and mothers and this is the response I got from the admin:

    MESSAGE FROM SPAIN: His family name MARTINEZ DE MURGA... (father�s last name) and OLAIVER maiden name (mother�s family name) BUT; he always use his mother families name (OLAIVER) thank you so much: HAVE A NICE DAY

    He prefers using his mothers name so we should call him Carli Olaivar.

    Hola, soy un aficionado del Racing Club Portuense y os puedo hablar de Carlos Alberto Martínez de Murga Olaivar.

    Aqui le llamamos Carli porque su nombre es Carlos (aunque su nombre completo sea Carlos Alberto). Con cariño se pone el nombre en diminutivo, esto es, Carlitos y luego todavía más corto --> Carli

    Carli es un gran futbolista, su posición es la defensa, concretamente lateral derecho aunque también puede jugar de defensa central.

    Espero que lo trateis bien ahí en Filipinas.

    Por cierto, mi nombre es Alvaro.
