VISITING squad Aroroy FC earned a trip to the finals following a decisive 3-0 win over Queen City United (QCU) in the Girls 17 division of the 11th Cebu Amateur Football Club Interclub National Football Cup yesterday at the San Roque football pitch.
Aroroy of Masbate finished with six points from two wins and two losses, while QCU finished the week-long tournament winless.
Aroroy will face division-leader University of San Carlos-Technology Center (USC-TC) in the championship match tomorrow at the San Roque football field.
Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy also earned a semifinal spot after going unbeaten in the elimination round with a 2-1 victory over Manila Soccer Academy (MSA) in Group A of the Boys 17 category at the USC-TC football grounds. Blessed John XXII
Seminary, on the other hand, settled for a draw with Paref-Springdale.
ANS-Pomeroy finished with the No.1 spot in Group B with 12 points, while BJS and MSA are contending for the second semi-final berth with four points each.
In Group A of the Boys 17 class, Ormoc bagged a much-needed win against Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) for a possible slot in the semi-finals.
USC-TC automatically clinched a semi-final berth because of its unbeaten record even though the host still has a game left. SHS-AdC finished the elimination round with six points, while Ormoc also has six points and a win today could catapult the team to the semifinal round.
In the Men’s Open division, Waterfresh-QCU remained atop of Group B with a 4-2 routing over Hijos del Pueblo, while B-Meg captured its first win of the competition after crushing Count FC, 3-0.
In the Boys 14 division, ANS-Pomeroy routed BJS, 6-1, while Ormoc FC overwhelmed MMIS, 4-1, in the Boys 14division.
ANS-Pomeroy also topped its group and is set to face Ormoc FC in the semifinal round today at the San Roque pitch. MTI is up against SHS-AdC in the other semifinal match.
SHS-AdC beat Aroroy FC, 3-0, in the Boys 12 class, while Count FC thrashed SJSM/3 Bros., 4-0, and QCU defeated Canduman, 4-1, in the Players 10 division.
In the semifinals of the Players 10 division, San Roque Royal United will take on Danao FC, while SHS-AdC will face QCU today.
