Boracay hosts beach soccer
NIVEA Sun has signed up as major sponsor of the 2011 Kicksand Beach Football tournament, which will soon move into its southern swing in the finest resorts in Boracay and Davao.
“We are happy to partner with Nivea Sun for the Kicksand Beach Football series.
Nivea’s line of products suit well with beach sports,” Beach Football Association of the Philippines (BFAP) president Mike Athab said.
Nivea Sun signed up for the two tournaments in Boracay and Davao through Kicksand’s marketing group F1 Event Solutions, Inc.
Jamie Sanico, brand manager of Nivea Sun, said Nivea is committed to outdoor sports events like beach football and is happy the brand will be associated with Kicksand.
La Isla Bonita Resort will be hosting the Visayas leg in scenic Boracay on May 28 and
29, while Bluejaz Resort and Waterpark in Samal Island, Davao will be the venue of the Mindanao leg on June 11 and 12.
The tournament, organized by the BFAP and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Football Federation, has expanded to a three-leg series covering the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao this year.
The tournament is open to all football clubs and will be part of a selection process for the men’s and women’s national beach football team.
The Boracay leg will be the second leg of a trilogy that started in Subic last April 16 and 17 with Manila FC winning the men’s title and Libertas FC taking the women’s crown. (PR)
