The Philippine Football Federation will be liable to pay 30 percent amusement tax imposed by the Local Government Code, Bacolod Councilor Caesar Distrito said yesterday.
They need to first request for an exemption from the Bacolod Sanggunaing Panlungsod before they could be exempted from paying amusement taxes, he said.
Distrito said he will file a resolution urging the City Treasurer through the Mayor’s Office to implement the provisions of the Revenue Code and the Local Government Code that requires the collection of 30 percent amusement tax on all places of entertainment or amusement or sports that charge admission fees.
Considering that the PFF has been selling tickets at P300, the organizers should be charged 30 percent for amusement tax, he said.
The free tickets will not be charged 30 percent but only those that charge admission fees, he added.
Distrito said he asked Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairman of the SP Committee on Ways and Means, if there is a request for exemption from the organizers of the Azkals’ game and he replied that there was none.
Because there is no such request from the organizers, they will be charged 30 percent amusement tax, he said. But if they submit a request for exemption, the SP will be inclined to grant their request since it had passed a resolution urging all Bacoleños to support the games, he added.
Distrito clarified that they will only charge amusement tax on the P300 ticket and not impose additional charges on the buying public.
The AFC Challenge Cup qualifying match between the RP Azkals and Team Mongolia will be held at the Panaad Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City on Wednesday.*CGS

Nothing's surer than that Bacolod city/Negros Occidental government officials are out to shaft the PFF. First they demand 10,000 free seats just to stage the match, the 2000 free VIP seats will be full of their incompetent asses, and now they want to suck 30% of the 3000 available to the general public. The Philippines may be at 152 in FIFA's league table; it is 207th in the league for clean politics.
ReplyDeletegoodbye Panaad.
ReplyDeleteBacolod City and Negros Occidental provincial governments really want attention.
ReplyDeleteYes, attention from a cobra helicopter gunship
ReplyDeleteLeave them be.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rizal Memorial Stadium's renovation is done, the PFF will no longer need Negros Occidental Government's attention-hungry incompetence.
