Interesting. I wonder who will follow. If more of the foreign based players play in Asia, the more our team will be competitive. But then again, its also a question about the financials.
ReplyDeleteIam not surprised. He didnt play a good game against Mongolia but in the Suzuki Cup, he was easily one of the best players for us together with Greatwich. Its a position we dont have very strong players in and more exposure to Asian style of play will only make him better for the NT's objectives.
ReplyDeletewhy do other countries keep on referring to our players as naturalized? they are filipinos. they are natural born filipinos.
ReplyDeleteany ideas about the terms of the contract?
De Jong and Etheridge got bored against Mongolia bcoz their opponent played too defensively. Remember that they arrived just a few days before the match. Azkaleros, just take it as an off-night. Everybody including Ronaldo, Messi & Rooney experienced that.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good news. He will have more playing time with his new club and will surely improve more as a player.
At least Dd Jong found a team in the official Indo league. Why can't the Younghusbands and Borromeo do the same?
ReplyDeleteThis will be good for Jason and for us as this will keep him fit and playing in a good league and it will be easy for the Azkals to call him up.
There's a video in youtube saying "Aly Borromeo to leave Azkals", with the video talking about him possibly joining an Indo club in the Indo Premier League.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of Azkals fans who are non-football fans, ironically. I hope they learn the difference between FC's and national teams.
Apparently you are not aware that there is a rebel league aside from the official Indo league. The LPI or Indo Premier League is a rebel league which the Indo federation is threatening with sanctions. There is a risk that FIFA might take the case and sanction participating players from international games.
ReplyDeleteFortunately De Jong is joining the official Indo Super League sanctioned by FIFA and the Indonesian federation.
There are a lot of Azkals fans who are non-football fans, ironically. I hope they learn the difference between official league and rebel leagues.
To the last anonymous. I was just kidding and being informative. I agree about some fans being mistaken about thinking that some of these players are leaving the Azkals. Club and country are 2 totally different things.
ReplyDeleteChecked the Indonesia Super League, Sriwijaya FC got matches on 20 , 23. and 27. March. I doubt that de Jong will be playing in Mongolia or in Myanmar
ReplyDeleteSEA teams tend to be more lenient in lending their players for international games, jonny. De Jong will be there.
ReplyDeleteAlso, acc. to the philippine star report, contract requires release of the player when his services is required by the national team.
ReplyDeleteThe Younghusbands are having too good a time here in the Philippines,,haha. I dont think they wont to give it up because when they go to Indonesia they wont be treated like superstars. Ali isnt exactly in need of greener pastures either. But Dejong should be able to play. We will need him to play well or we will be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteEverybody mentions that Ali Borromeo is well off in the Philippines. Where exactly does he get most of his income as I don't see him doing as many endorsements or having appearances in showbiz as the Younghusbands?
ReplyDeleteAs for the Younghusbands celebrity status in Indonesia, they seem have to picked up a lot of female fans while they are there. This Indo fans regularly appear on facebook and twitter inquiring about the Younghusbands, Neil Etheridge, and even ex coach McMenemy.
