IT will not be easy for the RP national Under-16 football squad that will compete against the likes of powerhouse Japan, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and Bangladesh in the forthcoming Asian U16 Football Championship Group E qualifier slated October 3-11, at the Panaad Sports Complex pitch in Barangay Mansilingan.
But organizers led by Philippine Football Federation (PFF) general secretary Cyril Dofitas believes the nationals have a good chance of performing well in this Asian Football Confederation (AFC) organized event where the top two teams will advance to the main draw of the competition next year.
“This is an age-group tournament and unlike in the open category events I believe our players have a fair chance of competing well against the foreign teams especially since they will be playing in home grounds where the Negrense fans are expected to cheer them to play their best,” Dofitas told Bacolod sports writers earlier.
