Rosevale School will again hold its annual Football festival at Xavier Estates Football Field on January 23, 2016.
THE 11th ROSEVALE FOOTBALL FESTIVAL. We hold this annual festival with the aim of fostering camaraderie and developing a tradition of athletic excellence among young football Athletes from schools and clubs not only in Cagayan de Oro City but to all teams in nearby towns and cities.
The Rosevale Football Festival has steadily become one of the highly anticipated football tournaments in Cagayan De Oro City. We hold the most participated tournament for the past years with participants coming from as far as Davao City and Cebu City. Parents of the players, relatives, friends and other Guests are avid supporters of this tournament.
In this regard, we are pleased to invite your school/football club to join the 11th ROSEVALE FOOTBALL FESTIVAL.

The tournament will be for ages 8 – 17 years old (boys and girls). 

 Please confirm your team’s participation not later than January 18, 2016. Registration fee is Php 800 per team. Registration fee made on January 19 – 21 is already P1,000. Payment should be remitted to the name of Ms. Emma Rose Inez Q. Quimbo at M Lhuillier and Western Union to confirm your participation.

AN EFFORT to sustain football development in the locality had encouraged a young group of football afficionados in Cagayan de Oro in organizing the SMP and CBR Football Derby 2012 successfully held last weekend at the Apovel Subdivision Plaza in Barangay Bulua.
The Dino Roa Productions in cooperation with Richard M. Legaspi, Monte Carlo FC and Adogs FC presented the 5-aside futsal tourney for the boys 12 under and men’s open categories.

“Our very own team Askals had just surprised the whole football scene across Asia. Now is the time for local football to shine,” the youthful Dino Marco “Joross” Roa told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
A known basketball enthusiast just smitten by the football bug, Roa said the football-loving Legaspi family in the city were the ones who inspired him to try his luck in the most famous sport in Europe and developed a knack in promoting it when opportunity comes.
“As a late-bloomer in football, pwede raman diay tun-an especially if you play basketball kay gamit man ang lateral movement. Daghan sab sa mga kids karon nga interesado sa football ato lang tabangan og push nga ma-develop,” added Roa.
Showcasing the best of the best for pride and glory, the 3-peat slambangin’ Hillsiders FC , anchored by Jaymille “Pretty Boy Bambam” Conmingo and defense specialist Harpy “Big Daddy Nightmare” Villorente, narrowly defeated the Sylvester Palarca-led Wadhus Montecarlo FC to rule the men’s open that also drew the participation of El Salvador Tagnipa FC, Bugo’s Glorious Hope FC and Apovel Adogs FC. Conmingo got the MVP award.
The Montecarlo toddlers, however, exacted revenge in the kiddies side beating the Opol FC for the championship honor.
“At least, nagpabilin gihapon ang spirit of champion sa Montecarlo,” said Bryan Election of City Central School, who expertly guided the Montecarlo boys along with fellow coaches Wilfreo G. Dela Riarte of St. Mary’s School and Ronald “chairman” Cablang, team manager of Montecarlo FC.
With the soccer field in Apovel available to use for free, Roa said the Apovel Football Derby’s organizing group is optimistic to draw more support for the development of local football under the umbrella of the Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Football Association (CMOFA).
“Next time, we’ll try to do our best nga ma-improve pa gyod among preparation. And we’ll include in our cast the women’s open kay bibo sab `ni nga kategorya,” Roa further said.

Oro Rotary Club starts giving football stuffs

SHARING the spirit of Christmas as season of love and gift-giving, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro made the students happy by donating football equipment here on Wednesday at Gaudioso Legaspi Reyes Anhawon Elementary School in Barangay Bulua.

This came after news anchor PJ Dela Peña of the ABS-CBN's local TV station saw students playing football with passion using just bamboo materials as their goal, probably inspired by the mercurial rise of the Philippine Azkals.


Dela Peña did feature what he saw in his TV program that caught the Rotary Club's attention.

The Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro is a civic-minded organization that supports sports development especially among the in-school sports children.

City Coucilor Ian Mark Nacaya, Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro President, said the football equipment may enhance the skills of Anhawon footballers who showed a promise in the City School Division Meet where they finished a decent third.

Football stuffs that were donated include balls, 15 pairs of shoes, jerseys and some other materials that could improve the school's bamboo-made goal into a steel-made one.

The group is planning to visit more schools in the city for the purpose after its kick-off program in Anhawon Elementary School proved a success.

Anhawon principal Alma Sheila A. Alorro said she is very happy that their school was given sports assistance through Dela Pe¤a's initiative.

"Ang mga bata mag-tsinelas lang ang uban bare-footed lang intawon nga magdula sa football dire sa among hawanan even using a damaged ball. Dako kaayong tabang ang proyekto sa Rotary Club," Alorro said.

The event was also attended by some iconic members of the Rotary Club sush as former City Mayor Constantino Jaraula, Police Station 1 commander Police Senior Inspector Ariel Pontillas and JJ Ramnani, Rotary sports committee chairperson.

CDO Football - Biantan: Football revolution at Rosevale school

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Tiny Rosevale school inside the posh Xavier Estate subdivision here is leading the football revolution in this city of Golden Friendship.


Aside from having less than one thousand mixed pre-school, elementary and high school students, the Opus Dei run school has the best elementary football team right now in Cagayan de Oro having won the city's Quadrangular meet. The Quad meet is the selection tournament of the city for the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) regional football Palaro on November 11-13, in Malaybalay city, Bukidnon.


But as they prepare for the regional meet the team has only one thing in mind, defeat powerhouse and defending national champion Bukidnon. Bukidnon is represented by the kids from the Holy Cross Academy in Camp Philips, Manolo Fortich. The school has one of the best football programs in the country having been situated at the centre of the pineapple producing compound of Del Monte Philippines.

CAGAYAN de Oro's Monte Carlo booters, virtually forced to inactivity due to the high cost of practice venue in the city, proved that they're still a force to reckon with.

The Monte Carlo Jap, relying on two breakthrough goals by Emiliano Mabalos Jr., beat Marawi, 3-1 to capture the men's open title of the 1st Russel Cup 5-on-5 Futsal football tourney here last Sunday at the Macasandig gym.

Xavier University's senior varsity team, meanwhile, withstood the fierce challenge of the mighty Ladies Football Club (LFC-09), 2-1 to secure the women's open crown.


Powered by the tandem of karatedo queen Ma. Marna Pabillore and former UAAP-UST (University of Santo Tomas) standout Julie Anne Gerona-Popovic, the LFC-09 earlier bested the two other teams from Xavier University to arrange a final showdown with XU's main squad, the JRFC Green.


"Since wala nay mga ensayo after college days, we did not expect to reach the championship round. Happy sab kaayo ko nga nag-champ akong mga Monte Carlo boys," team-playing manager Gerona-Popovic told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.


Held in memory of the late Monte Carlo mainstay Russel "Tugak" Galarrita who died in abroad last December, 2009 due to cardiact arrest, the 5-aside tourney might be held annually in the city under the umbrella of the Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Football Association (CMOFA).


"Memorable nga event kay napukaw pagbalik among interest. Daghan nanga-discourage sukad nga aduna nay mahal nga pulta diha sa atong Pelaez Sports Center," one Monte Carlo player, said.


"Overwhelming kaayo ang response, paid off kaayo ang kahago. Bisan malayo among pamilya kay mag-migrate naman `mi puhon sa Europe, I'll always continue my support to Cagayan de Oro football," added Gerona-Popovic who got married to a Serbian.


For his final game's heroic, Mabalos was adjudged as tournament MVP. While Russel's younger brother RG Galarrita and Julfred Domo got the best defender and best goal keeper awards, respectively.


Completing the Monte Carlo's cast are Macky Yañez, Nicho Palarca, James Sombero, Rolan Cartajena, Jonathan Regusante and second keeper Neil Palarca.


Runner-up MSU-Marawi was made up of Bombet Avenido, Ding Magomnang, Joemar Panganiban, Moloy Baulo, Alma Maongc, Jay-R Mabale, Bobroy Cruz, Bingay Paran and Doy Sarangani.

Comprising the triumphant XU-JRFC Green are distaff MVP Evonnie Urtal, best goal keeper Madeline Veluz, best defender Vanezza Mondero, Julie Cenita, Jancel Jamaca and Joveann Barcena.

Backing up the Popovic-Pabillore pair for the reunited LFC-09 are Carla Samantha Nu¤ez Alabat, Maan Roa, Russel Mendoza, Nyce Jonayon, Bambi Bagayo, Kristine Neri, Margo Laplap and Joanne Abrahano.

Cagayan de Oro Football - Ateneo booters triumph in Oro

ATENEO de Davao University (AdDU) had a flourish finish in the 5th Rosevale Cup Football Festival held February 20 at the Xavier Estates grounds in Cagayan de Oro City.

Ateneo, under coach Nonoy Garfin, won the boys eight-under crown aside from emerging first runner-up in the boys 10 under and second runner-up in the boys 12 under categories. Abing Lim is the mentor of the 12 under squad while the 10 under team is coached by Reynalyn-Ranada Ravanes and Ewee de Leon.

Aside from Ateneo, teams from Rosevale, Abba'ss , Del Monte Football Club, Cellestial Football Club, Don Marcelino Football Club, Cagayan Football Club, Manolo Football Club, Olles Football Club and Xavier Estates also competed in the event. (CRAM)
