After the two friendly matches against Myanmar were cancelled, Malaysia U22 are now set to face Philippines U22 on 8th of December as a replacement.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has confirmed that as part of the team’s preparation for SEA Games 2017, the Young Tigers will meet Philippines U22 in Manila on December 8th.
This would be the second time Frank Bernhardt’s men to face the same opponent this year and according to the German, his side still need to remain focus ahead of the clash.
Quoted from Astro Arena, Bernhardt said: “Our first game was against Philippines this year. However, we cannot underestimate them just because we beat them before.”
“We must keep our focus and if we play well, we might get even better results despite facing the same opponent once again.”
Bernhardt also hoping that the Philippines team would be a much stronger team compared to the team that they faced early this year.
“Philippines may not be as strong as Myanmar, but I must stressed that we have faced them earlier this year.”
“I hope there will be changes to the team from the previous game and they will give us a good fight,” added Bernhardt.
In their first encounter in March, Malaysia U22 beat Philippines U22 with the score 4-1 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.

ReplyDeleteFriendly lang yan ng U22 kaya they don't care dahil di naman sila magbe benefit dyan.mas Priority nila ang club football.kung mag recruit man cla ng panibagong foreignoy based players i think they have much budget.
DeleteThis is so ironic. haha! They know that the Philippines is a weak team yet they still choose to play them. lol
ReplyDeleteThis seems very last minute. I fully expect the Philippines to lose by bigger margin than the 4-1 from earlier in the year!
Malay mo this time the scoreline will improve from 4-1 maging 4-2 or 6-2 to 8-2 favors away malaysian squad..milagro na lang kung maka tsamba ng standoff ng 0-0,1-1 or mapababa ng 0-1 ang goal.
Delete^^Asa!
DeleteYun nga eh, last minute friendly meaning halos walang preparation. Synonymous ang pinas sa pagtalo kapag halos walang prep. Hindi lang sa football!
sorry 0-0 ft score. sayang hindi 4-1 o lampas 4-1 na score. napahiya ka tuloy
DeleteDo we actually have an U22 team right now? O bubuo pa lang just for this game?
ReplyDeleteMaybe tryout or traditional pinoy pick up sytem or hugot style.konting praktis lang & amoyan pagdating sa actual game.Pang bandaid solution muna and yung realidad na we are developing football ibig sabihin konti lang talaga ang pool of talents nationwide kaya consider na yung pwede at may potensyal.that's why PFF tempted to recruit more talent from abroad
DeleteTama si Anonymous4 December 2016 at 18:22 in short wlang 'Long Term Plan' ang PFF sa mga Youth Teams nila and still they keep on saying na the "Future is Brightt" tapos yung mga coaches na ay biglang hugot lng din kagaya nila Coach Maro AFC Instructor na sa sobrang busy pero kukunin pa rin ng PFF para ilagay as coaching head ng U22 pero ang preparation is undermine na talaga.
DeleteI am not hoping 4 a miracle upset for our U22.pwede pang palampasin yung mga alibis ngayon ng PFF dahil wala pang mga club academy at masasabing youth developmental system pero pag nag launch na ang PFL bawasan na ang alibi kasi required na AFC magkaroon ng football academy youth system ang bawat clubs so pwede ng mag recruit ng taleng ang PFF kasi may paghuhugutan na ng mga players per club.
DeleteOkay, moment of truth for Philippine Football. The Azkals home grown youth team U22 to play with ADMISSION FREE. How many will show up and support the team?
ReplyDeleteHow do you the entire will be home grown?? What if the likes of Beaton and Kanayama are part of ghe squad as they were in the 4-1 loss?
DeleteYou should change your name to ABoplokz!
So what you're saying is that you will not watch the game because there are not all home grown? Well, it's OK by me.
Delete^^Talagang boploks ka noh?
DeleteSee what you wrote above, "How do you the entire will be home grown??"
DeleteMr. Buang-buang go back to school and learn English first. Or should I call you Mr. Hungog.
