Dolphins turn back Agila in UFL Division 2

MANILA, Philippines - Dolphins United FC picked up the full three points for the first time, turning Agila FC, 2-0, to improve their record in Division 2 of the United Football League at the Turf BGC yesterday.

Jerome Cuyos connected at the 59th minute then delivered a second goal 13 minutes later to power the Dolphins to their first win after two draws and two losses.

But with five points, the Dolphins are lurking in the bottom half of the 12-team field at eighth spot, one rung behind Agila and Union Internacional Manila’s identical six points (2-0-3).

Union Internacional thumped Sunken Garden United, 4-1, in the second game to join Agila at sixth and seventh.

Enjoying the top view is Pachanga FC, which stormed to its fifth straight triumph at the expense of Cebu Queen City United, 1-0, the other day at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Alfredo Gonzales knocked down the marginal goal at the 49th as Pachanga sustained its unbeaten run in the tourney with 15 points, maintaining a two-point lead against second-running Diliman Victory Liner (4-1-0).

Diliman subdued Team Socceroo, 4-2, over at the Turf, to post their fourth win, with Jose Andoni Santos scoring twice (21’, 63’).

Back-to-back goals by Stephen Permanes (56’) and Santos swayed the game to Diliman’s favor after a 1-1 standoff in the first half of action.
