AFC U-16 2012 qualifiers extended

Kuala Lumpur: AFC has extended the deadline for entry confirmation and interest to host the AFC U-16 Championship 2012 Qualifiers to 31 January 2011.

In a letter dated 26 January 2011 to member associations Bhutan, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Turkmenistan, AFC informs that it did not receive replies on the above matters by the previous deadline of 24 January 2011.

AFC advises that if it does not receive the member associations’ replies by the extended deadline, it considers them as not taking part in the said competition.

  1. FIFA just announced that each FA will receive $300000 as their share for the proceeds from the 2010 World Cup on top of the $250000 they receive every year. With this and all the sponsorships and other contributions coming in, there is no reason why we cannot host a national U-16 tournament to look for players and field a team in the AFC U-16 and U-19 qualifiers. We already missed the U-23 Olympic qualifiers because of mismanagement from the previous administration. Lets not drop this either.
