TWO football tournaments will be played simultaneously in Cebu City today.
The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) football tournament resumes its matches in the high school division at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Technology, while the 13th season of the Aboitiz Football Cup will have its first batch of games at the Aboitiz Sports field.
Cesafi
The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) will be going up against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) at 1 p.m. followed by a match between Cesafi high school division defending champions Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) and USC-North Campus (USC-NC).
USJR is currently second, trailing Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) by goal difference. Both have three points.
USPF is winless after losing its opener to SHS-AdC, 6-2.
This is DBTC’s first game in the tournament. USC is also looking for its first win after last week’s 1-0 loss to USJ-R.
Aboitiz Cup
Meanwhile, 15 games in the Players 8, Players 10, Boys 12, Boys 14 and Boys 17 divisions will be played in the first day of the 13th Aboitiz Football Club at the different pitches of the Aboitiz Sports field.
DBTC will be fielding the most number of teams in the tournament. In the Players 8 category alone, there are eight DBTC squads taking one another.
