Kaya, Ceres seek to build on gains as Philippine clubs resume AFC Cup campaigns against Singapore foes

From:
KAYA FC and Ceres-La Salle seek to build on their gains as they resume their respective Asian Football Confederation Cup campaigns on Tuesday night.
Riding the momentum of their victories in the second-tier club competition in the continent, the Philippine representatives battle Singaporean counterparts, with Kaya taking on Balestier Khalsa and Ceres facing Tampines Rovers.
Coming off a dramatic 1-0 victory over New Radiant last week, Kaya banks on the home crowd anew as it hosts Balestier Khalsa at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
A win for the reigning United Football League Cup winner, which is running third in Group F with three points, will catapult the squad to the top of four-team standings. Balestier is on top with four points.
“This is the most important game right now,” Kaya star OJ Porteria said on the eve of the match that kicks off at 7:30 p.m. “I feel like if we get three points, we already have a foot into the next round.”
“But no game’s going to be easy,” added the Azkals striker, who sneaked in the game-winner against New Radiant four minutes into stoppage time. “So we have to play even better than we did last game.”
Fortunately, Kaya is once again playing in front of the home fans.
“We just take advantage of the crowd,” Kaya stand-in coach Joel Villarino said. “Balestier is one of the strongest teams in our group.”
On the other hand, Ceres, which shut out Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi, 2-0, on the opponents’ turf in Bangldesh, hopes to taste success away from home anew as the Busmen visit Tampines at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
The encounter will simultaneously kick off as the Kaya-Balestier match with second-running Ceres also looking to take over from leader Tampines in Group E.

May Ceres Academy ba sila?

NOFA at ceres is almost synonymous for us negrense since it's the yansons at the helm... achievements of either or both( w/c is a lot between them) make us negrense proud which of course you cannot understand since the team or fa you support has not achieved even half of what ceres or nofa have.

Unwise for yanson bros if they send the negros youngsters to manila na alam mong may pasok pa sila sa school

    3. April pa mag start ang UFL Youth and it's impossible na may klase pa sa buwan na yan...

  2. NOFA and Ceres are two different entities para malaman mo Anonymous14 March 2016 at 14:21 at medyo may pagka bobo ka rin pala. Mag research ka nga, kelan ba naging Club ang isang FA at yung FA naging isang Club? Achievements to either both is not the answer to the question above. ANo bang klaseng pag iisip yan ?

  3. whine all you want... loser! ceres, their fans, NOFA and negrense supporting the team don't really care... they're winners and successful and will continue on winning. it's only loser like you (who i believe support a team w/ less success, if any) who keeps flooding the ceres articles with whine and hate... the rest of us are proud of what ceres has accomplished/ and is accomplishing.

  4. hahaha! what happen to the team you support? palaging talo? hindi maqualify sa afc? not as successful as ceres? you seems obsessively jealous with ceres' successes... what's your team anyway?

The future is all that matters hindi itong present dahil ang grassroots ang backbone ng Club.

    1. I get your point that we should invest more on the grassroots here in phil. however, i don't get it. why direct your attack to a specific team such as ceres fc when this specific problem should be best adress to pff. STOP BARKING At the wrong tree!

    2. winning at present matters most! winning now creates more awareness and enthusiasm to the casual fans and will also enlarge significantly their fan base. It also inspires and motivates the young footballer to achieve or surpass what the present team has/is accomplished/accomplishing. underachieving teams and their fans like you should really focus on their future because their present looks bleak... but then, i don't see ceres' dominance coming to end in the near future... so pasensya na lang, mukhang mahaba-habang pa ang bitterness at selos ang mararamdaman mo pre... poor you!

    3. tell me your team at magkaalaman na! i'm pretty sure it is underachieving.

  7. you seem to worry too much of ceres team... they don't worry becoz they're successful... you're not that's the reason why you're jealous! that's pure envy from you who claims not supporting a particular team w/c is worse. pero meron kang team, ayaw mo lang sabihin kasi nahihiya ka dahil katulad mo, underachiever.

    ReplyDelete
Your such a blind loser fan...

  9. a win is a win no matter how or how many... this is a result business and they got the right result today hahaha. a win again for kaya and a draw for ceres nice :))) at kung gusto natin mas maraming pinoy "pure blood" thingy stuff whatever. e di maglaro tayo sumali ng club. invite your friends to watch the games and encourage them to play in amateur or professional. maliit nga lang tayo na mahilig talaga sa football which is a sad thing pero marami kami dito sa probinsya pero hindi pa talaga exposed dahil wala pang magandang national league.. it takes time at dahil rin sa sinasabing globalization people are now allowed to go or play anywhere else. its a right and its' not a foreigner's fault if they played more of this game and more experienced than we do. international transfers are also legal in FIFA. so in order to compete and have more homegrown players. there must be more filipinos involved in this sport so that there will be more interaction and more popularity in this country. which is the most important thing in any type of sport. hindi lang puro reklamo at pawang keyboard warrior ang dapat gawin.. actions speak louder than keyboard warrior words

  10. Im from Negros. Ceres doesnt have their own grassroots program. What they do is organize a tourney, then handpick players from different teams to be trained under the NOFA squad which is sponsored by Ceres. The real grassroots program here in Negros are from the schools, and small FC's like ours who hold football clinics during weekends for kids aged 6-9.

  11. Now. somebody is speaking the truth about Ceres who doesn't have their own Grassroots program. Thank you Mel De Guzman...

    1. true sir...except for the part na e "regulate" the in-flux of fil-foreign. as far as im concern, they are considered filipinos under our law and they have the same right as compared to homegrown player...it would sound racist to regulate the "fil-For" despite that under our law pinoy sila... its like france saying na hindi pwede si zidane because he is not pure french because of his algerian lineage or germany team regulating podolsky because of his polish background.

    2. Anonymous16 March 2016 at 04:01 yan ang hindi kasi natin alam in the future kasi maraming maapektuhan kung magpapatuloy although trend yan ngayon but even the Foz commentator is keep on saying " The Philippine team like Kaya and Ceres has been successful due to their international brothers abroad" na para bang may pinariringgan sila its either tayo or ang AFC at FIFA. As you can see wlang Forever and we should be ready for the future if rough times will come. We develop our own players and we let them play abroad para may product naman tayo ipamukha sa kanila...

  13. yung mentality mo parang racist nazi. managers from football clubs dont give a shit about your race, skin color or saan kagaling. ang importante sa kanila ay panalo lang yun lang yun. that's a club football business and its' not a football fan to worry if the one who scored that goal is a bisaya, a tagalog or a mongoloid. at meron namang 5 player foreigner limit ang ufl. kung fil-foreigner naman ibang case na yun. pwede rin mag propose ka ng ban ng isang half filipino half swedish half chinese half garter. walang makapigil sayo. at oo ganun talaga meron competition sa pagsali sa clubs. its just like applying for a job, ano ang pipiliin ng isang boss. isang tao maraming experience or maliit lang? pero kahit ganun hindi pa rin yan excuse na hindi ka makasali kung magaling ka talaga kukunin ka nila. chieffy caligdong, ian araneta. mga goalkeepers na si sacapano at cebuano gk na kasali sa ceres bakit sila natanggap? dahil magaling sila. napansin ng mga football scouts ang kanilang potential. at karamihan sa mga homegrown azkals ay galing sa barotac nuevo because they have real passion for the sport. it is also my dream to see my homegrown talents playing in liverpool, real madrid, barcrlona or Manchester or any top notch clubs outside. foreigners playing in the philippines is not an excuse for philippine football to decline. the only problem is most filipinos would rather watch bball or hitting another person. what is the use of all these youth leagues, homegrown and all these things we are talking about? if only a limited people only frickin cares?

  14. Thats the thing..kami nag buibuild ng grassroots sa baba..and were self funded..dapat nga may support ng PFF ginagawa namin dito sa Negros but wala eh..gusto lang namin palaganapin ang laro kaya nag ooffer kami grassroots programs and football clinics out of our own pockets..
