Tryouts for Philippine Under 16 June 9 and 10 at DBTC

All football players born 2000 here in Cebu are called to the open tryouts for the Philippine Under 16 team, June 9 and 10 at the football field of the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) in Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
The tryouts will be conducted by Philippine U16 head coach Mari Aberasturi in three sessions—June 9, 6am to 8am and 3pm to 6pm, and June 10, 6am to 8am.
Aberasturi has already conducted tryouts in Bukidnon over the weekend and after here, he will also hold tryouts in Bacolod, Dipolog and lastly in Manila.
According to Aberasturi, he will be selecting 30 players who show potentials for the one month training camp which will start on June 25 at the University of the Philippines Los Banos with the expenses to be shouldered by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) excluding allowance for the players.
From 30, 18 will be selected to man the official lineup of the Philippine U16 that will see action in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under 16 Youth Championship which will kick off on July 27 in Indonesia and end in August.
Aberasturi’s assistant coach will be former Philippine Azkals standout Emilio “Chieffy” Caligdong while the goalkeeping coach will be Anthony Albao.
In the Cebu tryout, Aberasturi will be assisted by coaches Jose Dennis Penalosa, Glen Ramos, Dave Gerali, who is also the goalkeeping coach of the Philippine Under 14, and Allan Medalla.

  2. "expenses to be shouldered by the pff EXCLUDING allowance for the players."

    1. Who will pay the player's allowance??
    2. As this is happening during the school season, who will pay for the u16 kids' catch-up classes??
    3. After the tournament, what will happen to the u16 team and its members??

    1. don't worry about the money. i'll bet my pet carabao that 80 percent of the players that will be selected are from rich families.
after the tournament, trip to boracay and fifa 15 on ps3 marathon for a week.

  3. another surprise tryout. malapit na akong magkaapo, ganito pa rin ang kalakaran ng football sa pilipinas. hahay. that's a very short time to prepare for an event this big. that's a very for short time for anything, really.

    1. in most places, players from private schools have the upperhand. they got better facilities, coaches, funding for uniforms, tournaments, proper nutrition, better beds to sleep in. PLUS they got the connections to know if there are tryouts, money and favors to buy their spots in the team. it sucks to be poor but what sucks more is we live in a society that presses us to stay in this position.

  5. disaster ang football sa pilipinas not serious with their plans, not even sincere, philippines wanted to propagate volleyball and basketball,oh,trying to hype in the media,IMAGINE through the years we had 16 years of dominating basketball in asean regions, for what? did this asean regions really fond of basketball? do they have interest in basketball? shit! lies its all about hypocrisy.. hahaha oh my god philippines wake up! so, philippines is only basket ball, dont we fantasize about of holding major event in football here in the philippines? filipinos on the other hand have a little vision, when it comes to sports and economic build up, the world clamoured for football games, imagine if our country will hold football games,i think, we will generate more money, rather than this basket ball, where market is for philippines only.notice that fiba, retained philippines only? hehehehe its a sad truth for them, retaining sports event in one country is will reap negative impact, whereas, football, conquer continents, cities, country, it means big market and gained world wide acceptance.

    2. two remaining bidder for Fiba WC..China and of course Philippines..

failure and flop kasi ang last yr 2014 fiba WC...very low ang gate attendance sa Spain, lagpak saTv ratings worldwide and mahina rin ang pasok ng sponsorship.

Mr Baumann hopeful sa 2 bidder Pilipinas at China..

malamang masulot pa ng China ang hosting rights...because of Large economy, populations and growing middle class.

BTW the number sport in China is football maybe basketball slide down to third or fourth.

fiba survive because of NBA playoffs and NBA finals..

kahit wala na sa position si Blatter football still undisputed and number one global sport.

  6. maikli kasi vision ng mga oligarchs na pinoy big firms nowadays they tend to go national only, not focusing on international markets, ang mga market strategist nila ay hindi dynamic, kahit nga america tinitira nila ang football, dahil nakaka lusot ang american merchandise, kaya tuloy, nagagalit na mga american businessman, kahit sa boxing, hindi ka makaka lusot sa las vegas...if pac--- wins then then american owes boxing to us? ma negate lahat ng legacy ng black american boxing, lahat ng hall of fames, kaya? hall of shame kanalang. gaya dinyan sa larong football, they trying to disrupt football culture in the whole world so their market can survive, kahit dito sa pinas ganun din, attacking fifa dahil takot ang kanu nasa 2022 pupunta dyan ang fifa sa AMERIKA.pressure pressure, katulad ng mga chinese mainland trying to influence filipino chinese here so ma pre presure nila sa loob ang president para humina ang claim sa spratly,no business, no jobs, but every peso na spend natin sa kakabili dito ng mga chinese products ay kinakain yan ng mama china pangbili ng mga missile para sa atin.

    2. Pinoy oligarchs don't like to penetrate global market..ang gusto nila sila ang mag control ng local Market,GNP and GDP

they limit foreign direct investment by implementing 60-40 economic provision ng 1987 aquino constitution.

w/out catv and internet wala sanang media nung 2010 Miracle in Hanoi sa renaissance ng Philippine football..

ngayon PBA basketball is competing with other domestic leagues like V-league, PSL.UFL and UAAP football

  7. Why are they inviting boys born in 2000 for this tryout instead of born 1999? This is for a U16 team that will be competing this year, 2015, right? Boys born 1999 will qualify.

    1. I think they have AFF U16 to prepare for AFC U16 Championship qualifiers later this year with finals in 2015.
So it could be a AFF U15 tournament

  9. AFF U16 Championship is the tournament but our PFF guys decides for a sudden tryout with one month preparation only? What are they thinking?

  10. as i said, they are not sincere... poor philippine football, the politics is very prevalent, manoevre in subtle but nasty way.

  11. to be fair, not everyone was doing an awful job. although the letter came in late (i'm not shocked by the way), i saw an FA president "heavily" announcing the tryout as soon as he got the letter. the problem might be from up top. PFF should send send these announcements sooner and sanction FAs not doing their job.
