  1. Why start the first match at 4 pm ? Better to start 5 pm so the fans can easier to watch both matches.

  2. According to earlier reports, Taiwan did not send their best team for this tournament. And also, Taiwan has lost their last two games against Hong Kong.

  4. Macau 2-2 Taiwan

Taiwan`s best players are playing for Taiwan Power Company that competes in AFC President`s Cup. This is a "B" team

  11. The 2012 Philippine Piss Cup... because it's one big piss take!! Two of the best players that are available haven't been called up due to the delusion that they're not committed enough and then you've got Carli playing CB with Christiaens at LB and Fartaneta gets a start! Massive piss take, really is!

Prediction against Guam... draw! 0-0 or 1-1.

    2. Wouldn't be surprised if we did lose. After all this is the Piss Cup and we're fielding a piss team! But I stand by my prediction, either 0-0 or 1-1.

  14. is denis wolf really a striker? i thought he played CAM and RM in Germany? i thought he was more creative when he played RM during one of their friendlies that JYH missed out on.

  15. i dont think this team is going to get a goal in. they are having a hard time breaking down the defense of guam, and they arent really parking the bus. just playing good disciplined defense.

is ian araneta wearing bowling shows? he looked like he was skating there. hes just hopeless.

  16. As expected they were piss! Although they showed some decent passing moves every once in a while but that had more to do of how terrible Guam were rather than how good we were!

Also, Araneta and co continues to show that they can't even hit a barn door to save their life! Pathetic!

Based on this game, Guam are probably the weakest in this tournament. The Philippines will have to be 2-3 times better than what they showed today if they want to get past Macau and Taiwan but I doubt they have it in them at this moment in time especially with that shit squad they have now!

  17. C'mon guys. Nobody here seems to be giving credit to how much Guam has improved from the last time they met. Not only have they gotten better as a team throughout the year, they have also added a top tier MLS league player in Ryan Guy who is a starter for the New England Revs. As for the rest of the tournament, Guam has already beaten a full strength Macau 3-0 a few months ago in an East Asian tournament and they did that without Guy. That should give you an idea on how the rest of the tournament will unfold.

    1. Sure they've improved. But just like any other minnow that's improving, they'll have their ups and downs. Improvement is not a straight line!

Whether you like it or not and whether it's harsh or not, it's a fact that Guam were piss today! They actually made us look like we're a powerhouse from Southeast Asia! On another day, with their performance, they would've gotten thrashed by at least five goals!

So what if they've added one player from the MLS!? It's only one player and it's not like he's a world class player to begin with. In fact, Guy was actually piss as well! If I found out he was an MLS player only after the game, I'd be shocked. In no way did he look like a seasoned pro from the MLS. His performance alone summed up Guam's performance as a whole.

To be clear, I'm not hating on Guam. I'm just trying to make it clear they were really really poor today because it seems you're giving them a little too much credit. At the same time, you're downplaying the chances of Macau and Chinese Taipei against the Philippines.

  18. I am just saying that Guam is a much better team than the last time they played the Azkals and that the Azkals still dominated them in terms of overall play despite their lack of finishing. We might have even done better if they did not use Araneta so much and started Reichelt and Porteria earlier.

Chinese Taipei is only sending their B team as most of their top players are tied up playing in the AFC President's Cup and Macau has already lost to Guam by a 0-3 score with their full team. It stands to reason that both Guam and the Philippines should do better the rest of the tournament. Of course nothing is ever guaranteed, but the chances look good for both teams based on past results.

    1. We're Guam really better this time around than in June? I wouldn't say so really.

Chinese Taipei did NOT send their team B! There are still a lot of recognizable players in their squad who are regulars. Saying that they sent their B team is like saying our team is also a B team! lol

So what if Guam already beat Macau two months ago? We beat Guam three months ago 3-0 yet we only won 1-0 this time around! Although I understand where you're coming from but it's not that simple more so since the teams question are minnows and are still developing and therefore you'd get a lot of inconsistencies with them.

    2. Yes this Azkal team is indeed our B team considering that more than half of the players that would be starting if everyone was available is not there. What is wrong with that. For a friendly in a relatively minor tournament, that is perfectly okay. Taipei probably feels the same way.

I am just responding to your comment that you tried to justify how bad the Azkals were by saying that Guam is the weakest team in the tournament. Judging from past results and the players the other teams brought, I don't think so.

Guam has been steadily improving under their new coach. Even the coaches from East Asia including the Chinese Taipei coach, that have played and watched them have said the same thing.

    3. We'll always have players missing, one way or the other for various reasons! Saying this is our B team is like going around after every game and saying, "well, we've got so and so missing, therefore....." It's dumb.

Where did I say Guam was the weakest in the tournament? haha I said that they were shit in this match against the Philippines to the point where they made us look like a powerhouse from our region! They could end up turning things around in their next match but who knows.

I also never said they weren't improving. Surely they have to whatever extent but again, you're giving them a little too much credit and you're not even Guamanian! lolz. Unless....

You're also reading too much into what people like the Chinese Taipei coach has said about them. I mean what do you expect him to say? Something like, "no, Guam haven't really improved, we should be able to comfortably beat them the next time we meet".

      Delete
    4. First of all, at 17:07 you did say that Guam is probably the weakest team of the tournament.

Secondly the Guam team in this match decided to adopt a defensive counterattacking strategy, which basically allowed our midfield to dominate the play, which indeed made us look good.

Against stronger teams that have more even play we tend to not win the possession game as much, although it is possible that the new players might have something to do with this as well.

I am a football fan and I like reading what is going on with other national teams as well and there have been a lot positive comments on what the Guam national team and management have been doing lately from other East Asian officials so I am not just going by what the Chinese Taipei coach said recently.

Having said that the other teams like Macau national team are also trying to improve as they showed in their game against Chinese Taipei. It will be interesting to see how much they have improved in the next few games.

      Delete
    5. Umm... surely you must be smart than that? Or maybe not? lol. Note the use of the word "probably".

You're a football fan? Wow, wouldn't have guessed that.... well so am I!! hah. I too like reading about whats going on with other national teams and all that. But once again, you're reading way too much into all these comments from all these people. As said before, what else do you expect them to say? Seriously! Mind you, Gery White has only been in the job for six months or so. Yes, they're doing a lot of good work as he's also helping to revamp Guam's entire soccer program from the ground up. But you're making it seem like he's been there significantly longer and their program has come to fruition and therefore they've drastically improved.

Again, this is not hating on Guam. Not at all. But you're giving them a little too much credit/bigging them up a bit when it doesn't exactly warrant it, especially after that Sunday league of a performance they put in against the Philippines.

  19. Football is going down. No need to piss off who is the better team. They will be good enough for a few more months and all of these foreigners will just pop like a bubble. See the attendance?

  20. is it just me or is this football blog filled with football haters? our team might be piss poor but predicting their downfall and cheering for their failure is just low... i may disagree with some decisions of PFF but i can see the logic behind them... and these players everyone loves to ridicule might just be the future of Philippine football.

  21. Guam is only a speck in the ocean compared to PHI. Beating them at home by only one lucky late goal means the Guam team management is doing something very right or the Azkals head honchos are doing something very wrong.

It's this! Players who shouldn't even be called up get called up and look what happens... the team under performs!
