Bacolod Football - Two crowns for ABES in Carl Lopez bootfest

Andres Bonifacio Elementary School boys' Under 18 football team beat Handumanan, 1-0, while its boys' Under 12 ABES A squad tamed Wild Fox A, 2-1, to capture two titles in the 1st Councilor Carlos Jose “Carl” Valderrama Lopez 7-Aside Football Festival at the Bacolod City National High School pitch, Saturday.

Topping the eliminations in Under 18 against nine other teams, ABES went on to dominate the final match against Handumanan to secure the championship.

ABES' Jaymer Ciocon was named tournament Most Valuable Player, while his teammate Bell Bark Ortega received the best goalkeeper award.

In the Under 12 division, the boys from Andres Bonifacio beat 19 other clubs, including sister team ABES B in the semifinals, to school needed to tame sister team ABES B in the semifinals to arrange a title showdown against Wild Fox A.

Once again, ABES boys Adams Servanes and Sandy Remolado led the cast of individual awardees. Servanes was Under 12 MVP and Romolado, as best goal keeper.

In men's open category, UNO-Recoletos prevailed over Jackals A, 2-1, in the final match to win the title and the P3,000 cash prize. The Jackals received P2,000, while second runner-up Bacolod FC was given P1,000.

Recoletos' booter Michael Coral was MVP in the men's open event, while his teammate Jay Longno was adjudged as best goal keeper.

In the final match of girls' Under 14, Rizal Elementary school got away with a 1-0 win over St. Scholastica's Academy, with keeper Marikel Baleda bagging two individual awards – MVP and best goalie.

Rising Star Football Club was the recipient of the “Fair Play Award”, while Coach Ulyses Trillo was named best coach of the tournament.

Supervising the one day football festival was tournament director Emilio Goto, with match commissioners Dennis Estaniel, Leo Dayot and Catalino Valderrama Jr.

The competition drew participation from 50 teams from different football clubs in Negros Occidental.*NAB
