Football: Iloilo Captures PFF Men’s National U-19 title

The Iloilo Football Association beat National Capital Region Football Club-B (NCRFA-B) thus capturing the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Men’s National Under-19, 2-1 held at San Carlos City, Negros Occidental here recently.

The Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA) also defeated NCRFA-A, 3-0 to claim third place.

Eight teams bracketed into two participated in the tournament which started May 20 to 29, 2011.

The other teams are Bukidnon Football Association, Football Association of Rizal along with NCRFA-A and NORFA in Group 1.While Iloilo Football Association,
NOCOFFA, NCRFA-B and Naga-Camarines Sur Football Club in Group 2.

Individual awards were also given to outstanding players. Julius Sumagaysay of Iloilo Football Association romped off with Best Goalkeeper award; his teammate Jenery Gabuan won the Best Defender award; Paolo Salenga of National Capital Region Football Association-B (NCR) as Best Striker; and native of San Carlos City and regular member of Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) loaned to Iloilo, John Marcellana was voted Most Valuable Player.

Iloilo Football Association also won the “Fair Play Award”.

  2. Next time, PFF should allocate 3-4 slots for Visayas. It's very clear Visayas is the hotbed of Philippine Football. Congrats to NOFA(u23 champs), IFA (U23 2nd & U19 champs), NORFA (U19 3rd), Cebu FA (mostly represented the CVRAA Palaro secondary football cahmps) !

    1.) NOFA
    2.) IFA
    3.) NORFA
    4.) CEBUFA
    5.) DAVAO FA

    NCR shoukd not consider as their player mostly recruit from VisMin...Mabuhay ang mga Hiligaynon at Cebuano speaking people..

  4. NCR should be included in the list. While it is true that they recruit from the provinces in the college level, that is not true at the high school age (U-19). As proven in the Palaro, NCR continues to be one of the stronger teams every year, although the last 2 years, it had been Central Visayas and Davao who were in the Finals.

  5. Panu nagtop ang nofa sa list ng iba diyan eh di nga sila nakaqualify sa U19?? May taga norfa talaga dito na pilit ng pilit na magaling din daw sila but sorry the results speaks for itself. :(

  6. kung follower talaga kayo ng football, alam nyo ang mga sinasabi nyo...kung pagbabasihan ang mga nakaraang liga kung wala sa NOFA at IFA ang champion NORFA ang champion at minsan nakakasingit din ang Davao...pero sa ngayon NOFA at IFA ang mahirap tibagin pero wag sila magpakampante lalo na nakapukos na ang Cebu,maraming sponsor dyan at depende yan sa pagdevelop ng isang team...

  7. ang NCR di na dapat isali sa listahang yan kasi pang ibang level na ang NCR, kumbaga pang international na samantalang ang mga bisaya at ilongo pang probinsya lang yan...di ba mga tol??

  10. Lakas ng tama mo tol... ano ba tinira mo Baygon Katol? NCR pang International? Hindi nga maka buo ng lineup na homegrown talents international pa. Wag managinip ng gising tol... masama epekto ng sobrang high sa Baygon.

Blue Planet Travel Bookings, in cooperation with The Cancer Research UK, supported by The Malditas Philippine Women’s National Football Team and The Cancer Institute Foundation Philippines will hold the first NEGROS ORIENTAL LIFE GAMES – A CANCER BENEFIT SPORTS FEST. This is an open sporting event that will include Futsal, Soccer, and Ultimate Frisbee. Our aim is to promote Cancer awareness and to raise funds to support cancer patients as well as cancer research.

    Current schedule of events are as followed: August 13-14, 2011 Ultimate Frisbee Tournament from 8am to 3pm at the Perdices Coliseum, Dumaguete City. On August 27-28, 2011, the venue for the 7-A-Side Football tournament is still at the Perdices Coliseum. The venue for the futsal games is pending confirmation.

    There will be 3 (three) groups per sport; the junior teams (elementary and high school), senior ladies teams and senior men’s team. Life Games will offer all attendees a chance to participate in the fight against cancer while playing their favorite sport and promoting healthy minds and bodies. Each member of the team will be participating in honor of a child or adult affected with cancer. Competing in the event is a celebration of human spirit, physical ability and endurance. For the viewers, it will be a celebration of life.

    The Life Games is geared towards the support of cancer awareness and prevention as well as improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their families. The goal of this event is to raise funds to support cancer research and increase financial assistance for cancer patients currently undergoing medical treatment.

    Tournament joining fee is Php 500/ team. A third of the proceeds from this event will go to Cancer Research Institute UK while the rest goes to Cancer patient assistance and The Cancer Institute Foundation of the Philippines.
